Designed for use as a startup drive, the 500GB 3D SATA III 2.5″ Internal SSD from SanDisk provides faster system boots and helps enable faster gaming and graphics performance compared to a traditional HDD. It has a storage capacity of up to 500GB, is equipped with a SATA III 6 Gb/s interface, and fits into your system’s 2.5″ / 7mm drive bay. In terms of speed, this drive offers sequential write speeds of up to 530 MB/s, sequential read speeds of up to 560 MB/s, random writes of up to 84,000 IOPS, and random reads of up to 95,000 IOPS 3D NAND and nCache 2.0 technology.
With solid-state drive technology you benefit from load and access times for your files and programs that are faster than a conventional 7200 rpm hard drive. As SSDs have no moving parts, they are also more durable than traditional hard drives and are better protected against damage from drops and bumps. Having no moving parts also means that SSDs receive less wear and tear, as there are no read or write heads for the drive media to come into contact with. SSDs also help to deliver improved battery life and cooler operating temperatures.
SanDisk’s 500GB 3D SATA III 2.5″ Internal SSD offers their SSD Dashboard, which is available as a free download, and helps users to monitor their drive’s health. Protection is provided by a limited 3-year warranty, or an endurance rating of up to 200 Terabytes Written (TBW), whichever comes first.

I have one or two older SSDs that are heavy in comparison to this one. I bought this to try and use in my Atomos Ninja Flame, results may very.

The product does not include any cloning software in a package. Therefore, it was hard to find a proper one that worked. After SSD was connected to the SATA 3 cable adapter the system did not see the disk, moreover, SanDisk SSD Dashboard software did not see the SSD. Acronis True Image WD Edition Software did not see the SSD as well. SanDisk is owned by Western Digital. Apricon software could find SSD but did not let me clone the disk.EasyUS TODO software is free to use, however, it installed Chromium on my laptop and asked me to allow extensions to Chrome Browser. Overall EasyUS TODO looked like a virus. Thus, I deleted it as soon as installed and did not try to use it. The only software that worked in my case was Macrium Reflect 7.1 free. Also, I watched a youtube video made by GadgetClass channel published on Dec 31, 2014, which walked me through all the steps. Cloning the disk took 4.5 hours in my case. After SSD was installed in the laptop the system boot up in 7 seconds and SanDisk SSD Dashboard software started to recognize SSD. If I would do this process all over again I would buy Samsung EVO 860 that includes a Magician software made by Samsung company and available for download from their website or Crucial SSD that also has a software to clone the HHD.

My laptop is running 16GB of RAM, an i7 processor and a 1TB hard drive. (Due to the size, it was slow – 5400 rpm.) I wanted an SSD when I bought the laptop 4 years ago, but prices of SSD were sky high if you could find them. This is a much more reasonable price. If you are maxed out on RAM, this is the next upgrade to look add – the loading and saving process is so much faster and reliability substantially higher as there are no moving parts. It breathes new life into Windows based units!

Don’t know what happened to SanDisk… I guess Western Digital. I have a house full of SanDisk products… but no more. I got the SSD Drive, and the cable to transfer my drive. It wouldn’t work. It messed up the SSD Drive. Contacted Chat Support — They said, go buy another software and try it. They ignored my complaints that that was unacceptable. The process took days because it was late, and they were going home and would turn the problem over to another department. I require Portable hard drives and pen drives for all my classes. I’ve always recommended SanDisk and WD. NO MORE!!

I use this with a Ninja V. Once it’s put into the SSD caddy supplied by Atomos with the Ninja V, it works like a charm. It sticks out a bit when installed on the Ninja V, unlike the SSDs that were made specifically for Atomos devices, but it works great and is at a much cheaper price.
