I bought this because I have a Macbook Pro and I’m trying to conserve available USB-C ports on my computer since I have a lot of power-hungry peripherals that need to be connected directly to the laptop. The fact that it has several USB-3 ports and a card reader is great and I like the looks of it. The selling point for me was Thunderbolt 3 power pass-through. Unfortunately, when I used it this way (with my power adapter passing through this hub) my laptop battery percentage kept going down… Not as fast as with no power, but it would definitely run out eventually, which is not great. Ultimately, I can’t leave it plugged in all of the time, so if the power pass-through is a selling point, I might keep looking.

I am using this with a MacBook Por 16 Inches – late 2019 The pros: small, connections are firm, several portes: ethernet and card reader, 3 USB B and 1 USB C The cons: You cannot use the USB C port to connect your MBP charger (It simply won’t charge) You cannot use the USB C port either to connect a display (USB-C to USB C on the display – However this type of connection works if I connect directly to the MBP USB C port. I wonder if the USB-C port in my HyperDrive is damaged or it’s simply poorly designed (other reviews mention the issue about power pass-through though). I’ve been using this device only for 2 days, and it seems to work fine as an USB hub, but why to have a useless USB-C port??

I’ve had two of these, the first one overheated and totally failed. That happened after the warranty period so I had to replace it out of pocket. They were the only USB-c hub on the market at the time so I had to buy another of the same. The second one the USB-C port (female) and the 3.5mm audio port do not work. The USB-C port will not charge my laptop, provide video for a USB-C monitor, or transfer data from a hard drive. The other ports work fine, though the hub does run hot.

I’ve had this hub for a few months, and it has been performed quite well. The cable is a bit stiff, which is probably good for durability, but sometimes it can make it a little bothersome in a limited workspace. And, all in all, it seems to be a solid performing unit.

I have been searching for a way to ditch the weight and bulk of a laptop while traveling, and only use an iPad Pro. This does the job. I can insert a SD card, and also an external HD, and transfer files straight from the card to the HD, then view or edit on the laptop. The transfer rate is a bit slow, but the benefits are worth it to me.

The quality of the hub is superb. I bought a cheap 7 in 1 usb c hub and could never keep a solid connection with the devices I plugged into it. With this 9 in 1 hub, all the connections are snug when plugged in and there have been no issues.

They weren’t kidding when they called it the POWER; it has so many uses. With me carrying multiple USB-C devices (phone, tablet, laptop), I like how it plugs into all of them and has a cable long enough to handle it. I do a lot on the go, and being able to plug in HDMI to almost anywhere on all my devices is so handy. I sometimes have to plug in more than one USB drive, or a drive plus keyboard and mouse, and having a device as versatile as this one has made my life so much easier. This has to be the best USB-C dock you can buy for the size!
