Excellent hard drive this far! Added to my Synology NAS and so far no issues! Synology recognized the drive as a Seagate ItonWolf drive and surprised me when it actually showed a wolf logo next to the drive. The 12TB storage is excellent as well! Actual storage, especially with 1 drive failure redundancy in my NAS was less than 12TB but nothing too dramatic. Overall, I’m happy!

It went great. I was running 3 backup drives and one died. This larger one I installed and partitioned to mirror what the original 3 were called. I put it in and took out the 2 still good ones. Acronis never figured out there was a change and all backups going like clockwork. A little lower rpm than original but I expect fine to backup and more rugged so more secure.

its good product

These all checked out when I ran drive certifications prior to loading into my raid server. They’re speedy. They are notably louder than any other drives I have. I moved my array to a spot under my desk so that it’s not as noticeable but maybe that’s the trade off for having so many discs spinning inside.

I bought a pair. No problem replacing an existing failed drive with this new drive. Works great!

I installed it in a Qnap TS-230 NAS as a single drive. It is much faster than the WD My Cloud that I used so far. However, the drive is very loud when accessed, compared to the MY Cloud that is basically silent. Also, it runs quite hot. With the Qnap default fan profile, the Seagate runs at 48C. I changed the fan profile to be more aggressive, so now it runs at 43C. It’s still quite high. Had I known this before, I would have looked into getting a helium filled drive, that are said to run much cooler.

Only time really tells about reliability. It’s got 5.23TB of space (drives always seem to have a fair bit less than the listed size?) But it seemed to work seamlessly with my synology NAS.

Replaced an equivalent pair of 2TB drives in my Synergy NAS (Raid) unit – new ones work fine. Am not sure what else you say about HDDs. Drives replaced were the Pro versions which cost more but the only significant difference is related to lifetime issues. Notwithstanding an actual failure of one, I expect they will outlive me. These drives only run occasionally and I do allow the drives to hybernate.

Running on my Synology 418 NAS drive, seem be working fine.

I purchased these for for their capacity in a video editing NAS which also utilizes a cache ssd to saturate a 10 gbps connection. The drives are perfect for my needs and have excellent endurance through long transfers of upwards of hundreds of gigabytes. I am planning to purchase more of these in the future.

Replaced 2x2TB HGST drives (2011 vintage) in my file server with the 4TB IronWolf. I do 20-30GBs of transfers daily. File transfer rates across the network with the HGST drives averaged 100-120 MB/s. The IronDog only gives 75-85 MB/s transfers. Test transfers to and from another computer with a WD Red 1TB 5400rpm drive average 98-110 MB/s, so it’s not rotation speed. Same computers, SATA III/6 GB/s everywhere, 1GB LAN network, no other traffic during testing – yet 25% less speed. The drive does work, just longer to do everything. Wish I’d bought a WD or a newer HGST instead.

Works fine in QNAP TS-128A (also worked in my old QNAP HS-210, don’t tell anyone)

These have been rock solid for 5 years of 24/7 operation in my 4 bay NAS. Am having to replace 2 of them now as they’ve started to have bad sectors, but very pleased they’ve lasted as long as they have. Looking forward to another 5yrs with this one.

I got 2 of these for my new Synology NAS. No issues so far.

working perfectly

I have a few of these on a NAS system for several years, so far no one has failed. Under this condition, I can’t say how fast they are but at 5900 rpm are probably slower than the more standard 7200 rpm ones. It looks like for this kind of HDDs Seagate favours durability over speed but I don’t believe you will feel the difference in actual operation.

The new Iron Wolf is my new go to. Even the 5400 RPM is fine for backups and I can trust these drives!
