No problems yet installed it to a QNAP NAS and it was pretty much plug and play after I figured out how to properly set up the drive.will buy another one soon.

I purchased the 6GB Seagate as a nightly backup drive and so far so good. It initialized easily enough. It’s mounted in an external USB case and only in the quietest of moments at my desk do I hear it spin up. I’m normally a WD guy, but at this price point I thought I’d give Seagate a try again.

I’ve been using these types of drives for a few years now and they are very reliable! Still using two that are now 5 years old!

BH had the best prices at the time of buying, in fact a good amount lower than the lowest I could find being new and under warranty. I bought my first set of 6tb Seagates for my NAS and just recently bought my second set which are still in the process of being expanded into the current volume on my Synology device. So far, they have been performing beautifully. I might at some point need more space, but these should handle it just fine for a number of years.

I got this to upgrade my Qnap NAS from 3TB to 12TB. Previously went with another vender that has some issues with not advertising they where using SMR technology in the drives. Read a good few reviews before opting for the Seagate Ironwolf as I want a reliable drive with large storage that will last me a long time. This fits the bill. Also has Ironwolf Health Management that shows up in the Qnap NAS storage along with SMART to detect health of drive and to monitor for any issues, which is a nice bonus.

I purchased this for my NAS. It has worked without any problems.

All purely subjective… I’m not unhappy with these drives. They are quite fast. The active noise is no worse than most others I’ve used; may be quieter. It’s a mechanical drive, it’s supposed to make a little noise. It’s the constant knocking sound every two seconds when it is idling that is annoying. Sounds like it is parking a head or something. I haven’t worked out what is happening but apparently it is supposed to do this. Fortunately, it is in a closet. Whining aside, they are fast and relatively cheap. I’ll definitely buy them again. It will be from B&H too.

I have smaller capacity IronWolf drives so I knew what I was getting — high reliability, quiet running, and low run temperature operation. Simply popped them into the TS-451+ and was in business.

Fantastic and reliable, but slow

just what I needed

Not to mention very fast. I use a pair of these in the Synology NAS. Awesome pair to get the job done.

Too bad I cannot give these drives zero rating as they deserve. They are noisiest and loudest drives I ever own in the last 35 years. They started failing in my NAS after 6 months of home usage which is not something I expected. I am running the in TrueNAS with server motherboard from SuperMicro and 32GB ECC RAM. I’ve contacted Seagate for RMA and for my surprise they were not served in my country even though they have an official importer and shipped overseas so I paid twice the incoming taxes for them. Last time I am buying Seagate. I’ve contacted Seagate support and their answer was not to my satisfaction to say the least. I did not know that they are shipping them oversears as if I knew I would prefer to dump them to the trash can and but something more relaible and less noisy.

The drives are very quiet. I am using them in a Synology NAS. (Purchased from B&H) I have the unit running 24/7 and the data transfer rate is great. They were easy to install and I had no problems on start up. I have cycled the NAS through several on/shutdown cycles without any problems from the hard drives.

I ordered eight (8) of these for a QNAP I recently purchased. Unfortunately, one of them arrived non-functioning, would not even register as existing. Tried re-insertion, checked the mount etc., no luck. Will RMA with B&H, it’s always such a comfort order with these guys (as I’ve been doing for almost 30 years) because I know they’ll take care and make it right.

Easy setup and installation into my Synology DS218+. Pure Seagate quality as expected.

This Seagate Ironwolf NAS Drives is one of the best I have ever used. This makes the 3rd drive I have in my NAS and when I need to expand, I will be purchasing another one. Pricing has come down since the first one I purchased, so each one is cheaper than the previous purchase. Seagate has the technology to check the disk for bad sectors and also give an estimate life of drive. Mine are all in good shape and should be in use for some time. B&H always has the best deal with free shipping and no tax. Thats my choice!
