Have only used it for a couple of weeks. Installed as expected and is working as expected. The price was right.

Excellent Drive for NAS

I love these drives. They last a really long time and whenever I have any issues Seagate warranty replacements are super quick.
Rico Effertz (verified owner) –
I’ve had no issues so far. I did a certify test in SoftRAID before adding it to my RAID 5 volume. It took almost a week to certify, but there were no errors.

It still works a few weeks after purchase. Does what I want it to. Write speeds seem fast.
Theodora Flatley (verified owner) –
Ironwolf drives work the best in my Synology NAS!
Lessie McLaughlin (verified owner) –
I have put five of these drives in a Synology NAS, connected via the 100 mb ethernet connector. They work just fine, no issues. and overall performance is very good. As a side note, I added an iSCSI (software ) connection that is close to SANS external storage speeds, and the performance was better, using FCPX for editing 8 to 12 minute educational videos.

I’m not devoted to any particular brand of mechanical HDD; over many years I’ve had reliable service from a wide variety of Seagate and WD drives. The lower tier OEM drives installed in pre-built mass market computers tend to have slower read/write speeds, which can be annoying. This Seagate NAS HDD, which is definitely not lower tier, is quiet, reliable, and delivers about 220 MB/Sec.

I bought 2 of these HDD for my SYNOLOGY 218. As recommended by Synology.com, these drives would be the best match for my NAS. Inserted both of them and the NAS did the rest. I couldn’t ask for anything more.

My NAS drive was starting to fail so I didn’t hesitate to purchase this one as it was on Netgears Approved List. Put it in the enclosure and it rebuilt the Raid without any problems.
Letha Schultz (verified owner) –
The chip shortage impacted delivery times, but B&H didn’t give up. They kept me updated, and delivered after a reasonable delay. These HDDs are fantastic for applications that fit their characteristics. I get many years of reliable use.

Iron Wolfs are the way to go for reliability and best bang for the buck.

Increased storage, replaced 2TB drive. Working good.
Axel Nienow (verified owner) –
I have several of these drives, and they’re always rock steady and reliable. As a professional photographer, I count on these drives (in conjunction with my Synology Server/Drive) to ensure complete backup of my thousands of registered photographs.
Veda Schaden (verified owner) –
I was concerned when B&H said these drives were discontinued: I had had no problems with previous purchases and had heard nothing, either. I’m delighted that they are back.

Just installed two of these in my NAS and was pleased with the noise level. For comments and concerns about their relative noise level that appear to be on line, these are not any different than the WD Reds that are in my other NAS. Recommended.
