I got this to replace a 3TB drive that died in my Drobo. Plugged it in but didn’t work. Rebooted Drobo FS and it was recognized and Drobo is back to having enough storage again.

I purchase 8 of these drives (2 , 4 packs) to populate a Synology DS1817 8-Bay NAS Enclosure and it is working great.
Herbert Gottlieb (verified owner) –
I installed these into my NAS a couple weeks back, set them up, and they’ve been working well. They’re surprisingly heavy (lots of platters, I assume), but installs like any other HDD. I’ll update this review if I have any future issues.
Jacinthe Feeney (verified owner) –
As usual, Seagate HD’s work well, and reliably over long times.
Amya Kohler (verified owner) –
I purchased 8 of these drives to fully populate a Synology DS1817 and all come up great and are working well.
Norene Maggio (verified owner) –
Great drive! Quiet and seems to be reliable so far.
Uriel Morissette (verified owner) –
No issues with package, I did insert that in my Synology and that works well, so I hope to use that 5-7 years without any issues.
Tianna Swift (verified owner) –
These drives work really well in a NAS system. We bought 4 and all work really well together. Going to get more when we run out of space.

Bought to replace a failed drive

Delivered as promised in retail boxes. Formatted in Synology DS220+ with no bad sectors, quiet (you can hear it during wake up though), reasonably fast. Can’t comment on longevity/reliability yet.

I run an IT service business…. something like half of my customers have Synology NAS units and they have a mix of drives… These are the most reliable drive you can get before spending serious money on datacenter drives. I highly recommend them If you need more speed the IronWolf PRO is another options.

It fit into my Synology perfectly the first time and is quiet and fast!
Jules Hill (verified owner) –
Working great and reliably so far.

This is my fourth set of IronWolf drives. Each for a separate project. I’ve found that I can depend on them to be very reliable.
Edyth Crooks (verified owner) –
I does what it’s supposed to do.
Leta Ritchie (verified owner) –
I own three of these hard drives. I use them for backup data. They are reliable, fast, and super quiet. They’re ideal for NAS boxes where noise is a concern.
Mollie Nienow (verified owner) –
I’ve baught many ironwolf drives for my multiple Synology NAS setups in two offices. Both Pro and this Basic model. Always reliable. Only had to place 1 of 18 in an 8 year span as sectors were begining to fail.
Yoshiko Denesik (verified owner) –
I bought 4 of these to go into a Synology NAS station. They all fired up the first time and are working great.

Seem to be good high-capacity drives for my DiskStation NAS. Strangely though, I bought two of these 12TB disks at the same time from B&H and yet they have slightly different part numbers and firmware versions. Since they’re in the same RAID mirror, I thought they ought to be identical. When I investigated using Seagate’s tools, I was even more surprised that it claims they have different numbers of physical platters, yet the same total capacity. But they’re working fine so far.
