Not much to say except that the product works great and worked exactly as expected. No issues at all!

I have never owned a hard drive this large before but all I can say is that it is way past awesome. I do video editing professionally and this thing is a little jewel. It is extremely fast with it’s 7200rpm speed and works perfect for video production projects. I can’t believe the very reasonable price for it too. B&H is doing it right. This is a must buy if you want a lot of storage space plus something that is lightning fast.

After 46 hours to back all my videos to this, I then copied recent day folders and then went to back them up. There was a disturbing loud clattering noise that I recorded on my phone. I called Seagate, and they said to install Seatools but it wouldn’t install and they had no further suggestions but to send to them for data recovery or replacement. Replacement would take 6 weeks they said. I’d only had it for 3 days, so B&H was excellent about replacing it, sending me the new one so I could compare files, before returning the other. The replacement seems fine so far and I’ve copied all my videos and photos to it. I did have a different Ironwolf external archive drive fail before, and got back from Seagate after attempted recovery with files missing everywhere in great gaps, so caution. But 16T Dell costs about $2500.

What all can you really say about them? They’re spinning drives and they’re big! Definitely worth the money over the 5200rpm drives and a good cost saving point compared to SSD for big/long term storage. SSDs would be great, but for the storage I wanted it would be way too expensive. I bought a 4 pack of these for a RAID 5 configuration, which is giving me 15.69TB of storage. Actual capacity of these drives are 5.46TB each if you are wondering. They’re fairly quiet, but you do hear them if you have it near you and they are active. Not the spinning, but more so the head moving. If you put them in a storage device and it’s tucked away, you’ll never know. Great choice for tons of storage!

I previously ordered similar drives from Amazon, but they arrived in a paper envelope(!) with no padding (!!). As a result, they were completely destroyed. The next time I decided to order from B&H. Not only I got a nice discount when ordering 2 drives, they were shipped in a box with appropriate amount of padding (each drive was suspended in individual box, boxes were padded). I am pretty happy with the drives’ performance.

Upgraded my Synology DS214 from 2TB to 4TB. Dropped these drives in the bays one at a time and in a few hours had my array updated. Super easy.

Caught these at a good price and had to pickup several. Great start to my NAS expansion.
Jeanie Lakin (verified owner) –
it works well and quietly.
Tevin Hessel (verified owner) –
Set up 4 of these in a raid5 array, getting around 500MB/s on my QNAP 872XT . Pricey, but for a NAS, this is the way to go!
Marjorie Kassulke (verified owner) –
Delivery was quick as promised so that I could get my raid back into operation and back to editing 4K video. As far as drive performance, they are doing well and have been powered on and running for two full weeks now…with no failure!
Jack Jacobs (verified owner) –
Works perfectly. Part of a raid1 setup.
Jaylon Hudson (verified owner) –
These are great drives that work well in RAID systems. These are the only drives I buy because they are backed by a great data loss warranty.

The standard and pro iron wolf drives are solid reliable choice for nas units. There has been some drama about SMR drive being labeled for nas with out clearly being labeled as SMR drive. nas devices typically doesn’t work with Shingled magnetic recording (SMR) drives – I would recomend researching this before purchasing drives for your nas.

Works like charm for many years.

I have used this model of disk in different sizes with great luck over the years – they are reliable and will provide you years of service – you may pay a little more than some competitor product but this will be the best investment you have made……these new 16tb all certified without any error which is typical of this professional level product

As an avid photographer it is quite easy for me to acquire terabytes of images. It’s important to have a robust hard drive that can quickly pull images into post processing software. This Seagate 10TB NAS drive fits the bill.
Joan Durgan (verified owner) –
It works very well and added a lot of data to it with no problems. As for the 12 TB, it isn’t even 11 TB. It has 10.9 TB of space on it, I don’t know how they get away with it. But almost 11 TB of space is a lot of space.

I have 5 of these in an RAID array. 3 have failed and replaced by Seagate. So these have not performed like other Seagates I’ve had.

My Ironwolf Pro drives have lasted for years and years with every iteration. I expect the same from this monster as well. I have my previous 3 6 TB drives set up in a RAID for speed and they back up to this nightly. Perfect for my 4 bay drive enclosure.
