Designed for use in 1-16 bay NAS environments within commercial and enterprise settings, the 16TB IronWolf Pro 7200 rpm SATA III 3.5″ Internal NAS HDD from Seagate is built to withstand 24/7 operation, or 8760 hours per year. This 16TB drive has been equipped with a SATA III 6 Gb/s interface, a rotational speed of 7200 rpm, a 3.5″ form factor, and a 256MB cache, providing users with ample storage capacity with data transfer speeds of up to 250 MB/s. The IronWolf Pro also has an MTBF rating of 1.2 million hours, a workload rate of up to 300TB per year, and an annualized failure rate (AFR) of 0.73%. Seagate includes a limited 2-year Data Recovery Service that helps you retrieve damaged data in the event of a mechanical error, accident, or natural disaster, and overall protection is provided by a limited 5-year warranty.

I took one star off because as soon as its on my synology nas instead of giving me 12 tb it gives something like 10.5. I don’t understand why the synology or the nas takes so much space but it has worked very good so far.

Upgraded from eight 10TB HGSTs to four Seagate 20TB drives. The Seagates are quieter and run cooler. They are also slightly faster. Problem free so far. For redundant bulk storage of large media files these disks can’t be beat.

I don’t have an ultra-quiet setup, but have not heard a peep from these drives (ordered 2). I was disappointed to see they have 2TB less than advertised available to use, so expect to only have 14.5TB available to start with. I feel like they should advertise the capacity based on what’s available to the end user to use. It’s definitely misleading. I did hear a few clicks when first fired up, but quiet since. It seems under certain rare conditions, these will make noise when they want to, but have not had an issue with noise otherwise; I only hear my fans. I use them in a RAID 0 config as Plex movie storage. B&H shipped quickly and the drives were packaged well. I will definitely order from B&H again.

over the past few weeks i’ve installed five of these into an 8-bay NAS box (Synology DS1815+) as upgrades to 6TB drives from the previous generation (ST6000VN0011s); so far no bad sectors have been reported and the drives are running flawlessly… plus i’m seeing an average drop in temperature of 11C in each bay (e.g., 36C vs. 47C). and with a 10 yr. warranty, i couldn’t be happier. planning to replace the remaining 3 drives in the near future.

Unfortunately attempted to setup RAID 1 on set of drives ordered. One is working flawlessly but the other would not recognize out of the box. Appeared to be either mechanical or issue on the board, as it would spin up, but very loud clicking. Not a great impression for a new drive.

The Seagate IronWolf drives provide added visibility into there condition from Synology NAS devices beyond my previous choice which was Western Digital Red drives. I’m not sure if Seagate has a deal with Synology to allow that, or if they just implement a feature that WD doesn’t. In any case these drives are fast, have a 5 year warranty (Pro drives) and seem as quiet as my old WD drives.

I own several of these 20TB Seagate IronWolf HDD’s. They are totally awesome. They are very reliable and fast. I do film and video editing for clients and these Seagate drives never let me down. There is enough storage space to back up your largest files and many of them as well as handling large 4K -8K video files. This is a must buy!

Upgraded storage on my QNAP TS-251+ from 2 TM to 8 TB. Works great, but swap out took an overnight transfer to rebuild. I put the old 2 TB drive in my workstation without problems.

I purchased 4 of these for a DS920+. Two would not spin up – DOA right out of the box. Their replacement by B&H was handled quickly and efficiently. The replacements are running fine, although all of these 16Tb drives are very noisy – somewhat akin to sitting in a laundry room. By comparison, I’m running 4Tb IronWolf’s in a second DS920+ and they are almost silent.
