We’re using them to download huge uncompressed 4:4:4 video files shot on a Sony F3 and recorded to SSD’s on a Convergent Designs Gemini Recorder. We transfer to them through an eSATA xfer station and are getting good throughput. To date, we’ve filled about 16 -2TB drives with uncompressed video footage and they’ve been fast and robust and reliable. (I expect we’ll go through another 16 – 2TB drives before we wrap.) We’re shooting between 1 & 2 TBs a day and downloading the SSD’s from the camera to the Barracuda’s, which are working flawlessly, through Macbook Pro and Windows Laptops.

Apparently this thing is newer than my previous Startech drive dock, it would only let me format it 800ish GBs. After I got a new StarTech drive dock I was able to format it to the full 3TB. Just an FYI if you are using an external enclosure or dock. The drive itself has performed great so far. Transfers fast and keeps cool.

It’s a bit silly to review a hard drive after a couple of weeks of service but here I go: I purchased this drive as direct replacement of a failed drive in a Lacie 2Big 6TB 2-bay RAID device. It has the same capacity and even the same model number. Installation was easy and RAID restoration straight-forward.
