Great so far. Did not come with any instructions or manual on how to format so I had to call a friend to teach me how to do it.

Shipping was prompt, as always. Installed the drive and it worked flawlessly, runs quietly. Good solid drive.

I ordered 4 of these recently to populate a Sabio DM4 RAID. Unfortunately, one was dead on arrival. B&H customer service handled the situation well, and I remain a happy customer. Four of them create a 6TB Level 5 RAID, giving me some growing room for photoshop files.

I have a number of these for 24/7 NAS and archival storage of video. As long as you keep them cool they work well — which isn’t to say you shouldn’t still be doing backups.

I own at least 10 of these drives and have yet to loose any data. 4 of them are over 5 years old, one of which did show signs of failing. I caught it with apples disk utility and as such, had plenty of time to copy all of the data to a new drive. I definitely trust this 1TB model. Have also recently purchased the 3TB version for mass storage of all my video and audio files. So far so good. Can’t go wrong with Seagate. Great price from B&H. Rock steady build.

It is a hard drive and so far, no abnormalities have been encountered. (Ask me in two or three years)

Like very much.

Both drives in my La Cie 2-Big-NAS-6 failed. So much for RAID. Looking up this drive model number online, I see class action suit mentioned due to the high failure rates.

Good quality at a very good price!

I’m a freelance video editor and I often find myself needing extra space to accommodate my projects. I’ve used Seagate HDs for a few years in various RAID configurations and have never had any issues or drive crashes.

I have switched most of my boot drives to SSD’s. I have one mechanical hard drive which is partitioned to hold data, music, photos and games. This was filling up, and so needed to add another drive. I was inclined to add an SSD, but for the same price of a 500 Gb SSD, I could get this 2Tb 7200 RPM mechanical drive. These drives are large enough to serve up photos, or music, and also fast enough to load games. I have some Seagate hard drives which are 10 years old and still running, so decided to try this one. So far, no issues as far as speed with loading items from this disk. When the price of 2Tb SSD’s drop, I will probably replace it, but for now, it is a good bang for the buck.

This hard drive was installed in a Windows 7 professional 64-bit computer. It was recognized by Windows and after a GUID partition style, formatted quickly. I copied 165GB of data from an internal SSD to this drive and it copied at a rate of 149 MB/s sustained rate. I am very happy, but can’t speak to the longevity or durability yet. It is essentially silent.
