I have a Maxtor’s one Touch III backup system. my 750GB second drive has dead on me. I took a chance and bought two 2TB Drives and madding into 2TB RAID backup and worked well. This is big cost saving for me.!!

This HDD would spontaneously disconnect from my Mac Pro. This happened whether the drive was connected through a e-SATA disk dock, or whether it was mounted to an internal bay. I purchased 3 of these drives and 2 exhibited the problem. I would advise avoiding this product.

I bought five of these drives for a Drobo RAID setup and after just over a year all but one of them have had to be replaced under warranty apart from the one that failed this week, which is now out of warranty. An 80% failure rate is totally unacceptable. I may have had a bad batch but I cannot recommend using this product, or any other Seagate product for that matter.
