I purchased this HDD to replace the one in my desktop workstation after it failed. It turns out the OEM (Lenovo) installed a Seagate 2TB unit initially. It lasted 6 years, so not bad. The replacement and reprogramming was easy, and I immediately built a backup in case this happens again. Sure beats buying a new workstation.

I’ve had it in my computer for about two weeks and it works as expected, no strange behavior. Hopefully that doesn’t change.

I do edit many… many hours of video each year, so I need space … and more space… For the price and specifications. It was the only choice. Till now . seagate did work without failure. I hope it will continue so, especially if I think of the many…many hours of the videos stored…

Once you format the drive the bios quickly identifies the drive and you are installed. The included wizard software allows basic installation. Shipping was pretty quick got my stuff nicely packed.

I have a desktop System that is used for development and systems work. As part of this I utilize a Raid 5 to make sure my data is saved. had a problem with a 1TB Hitachi drive (after 5 years) and this was the best price / performance disk and vendor I found on the web. Put it in and everything doing well. Thanks B&H!

I used this drive to replace a failed Seagate in a LaCie d2 Quadra and it works great! Simple remove and replace the drive, initialize it and it is up and running as a Time Machine Backup. Perfect price for this kind of peace of mind.

I have a Samsung SSD and a WD Black 1TB HDD. Been using them since 2015, (I don’t keep my PC powered on 24/7, I only turn it on when I’m using it). Anyways. I trust WD HDDs. Have read a lot more good reviews of it than the Seagates. WD costs a bit more. My 1TB WD black drive was around $75 while a similar speed Seagate costs a lot less for double the storage capacity. After 2 weeks of thinking I finally bought the Seagate 2tb 7200rpm drive. The drive did not show up in BIOS or in Windows. Even the Windows Parton l partition manager didn’t detect it. The easiest way is to boot your PC with the Windows installation disk. Then go to drive selection window and format the newly installed drive from there and now it will be detected in Windows and in BIOS. While I was copying my backup files, the drive did make a slight sound but it went away. This drive is fast. And surprisingly, this drive is much thinner than the WD 1tb black drive I have. Twice the storage, same rpm as the WD HDD but thinner profile! The drive did not come with any screws or data cables. While transferring my backup files to it (100gb of games), this drive reached 40 degrees while my WD was at around 36 degrees.i just hope my drive lasts long without issues.

I purchased this drive a replacement for an older drive that simply failed. I’m using an old RedayNAS so there are lots of drives that don’t work in the unit. This one worked as expected minus a slight hick-up on the first drive initialization. It came back failed. I simply removed and re-inserted the drive and the second time it was perfect. Could have been the unit or the drive, not sure, hence the 4 vs. 5 stars. However since that issue it’s been working flawlessly.
