These babies are perfect for backing up anything. I’ve gathered quite a few over the years, and haven’t had one go down yet.

I use this drive as a backup local copy of all of my images and work. It is not a primary drive, and I am glad. While it was affordable, and has large capacity, it is loud. I can hear it spin up when I access it. I had to use as many mounting points in my computer chassis for this drive as I could to reduce vibrations.

OS is not loaded on this drive. Drive mounted in addition to drive that has OS installed. Just remember to download and use the Seagate Discwizard software to mount and partition the drive.

I have been using these in first and second generation DROBOs for years and just purchased 4 more for a Drobo 5D for use with a new Mac Pro

Fast and big storage

It works ok, a bit slow for use as a boot drive. will use as a storage drive only

I added this hard drive as an addition to the 750GB that I already have in my computer. I made this 2TB drive my boot drive. Start up times are average. Data transfer is very quick, thanks to its 64MB cache and 6.0Gb/s write speed. Plus, it has lots of storage for all my files, plus more. Great for those who want a capable internal drive to store lots of data.

I added 6 TB to my existing 6 TB for my 4 Bay Drobo, can’t wait to fill it up.

I replaced the original 500GB drive (still working) with this larger unit. Works great, plus it appears to backup and access Time Machine a little bit quicker, and it runs slightly cooler too. Nice drive.BTW all of the setup is done with the Airport Utility. The whole swap took less than 30 minutes. *

This is a 2TB drive. It holds 2TB of information. It does that well, but I would never trust it, and double all of my info. Good price

Have this set up in External enclosure, as a Raid-1. Use it to archive videos from HyperDeck Studio Pro. With eSata, it takes about 30 minutes for 230GB to back up.

I have come to regard Seagate as a quality manufacturer of reliable internal and external storage drives. They make fast processing, long lasting, and reliable drives at a great price and stand behind their products. I currently use 7 drives, 4 internal and 3 various external.

I’m impressed, this hard drive is real good.

I have only had this HDD installed for about two weeks. It has been working fine. I have a 3 TB backup Seagate external drive which has served me for about 18 months without problems. With past checkered reviews, it seems that Seagate is making a comeback in their quality. Time will only tell. I still have an old 320 GB Seagate external drive functioning after at least 10 years. I just replaced two 500 GB HDD’s which I knew were 7 years old and might fail. They began to make clicking sounds, so I quickly made a mirror image of them and transferred the data to my new 2 TB Seagate drive. I then replaced three more old HDD’s and found out that one was 11 years old!

I purchased this HDD as a replacement for the exact same model installed in my PC and that failed catastrophically (no data recovery possible, the heads effectively grinded the disk). The HDD is brand new, arrived fine, B&H service good. Just beware of the lifetime of a HDD these days and always have a good backup strategy – the cost of data, your photos and memories are far more important than the cost of hardware.

Have had many Seagates over the years (10+) had one fail, soon after powering up. So for me that’s a 10% overall fail rate. Then there was the Barracuda problems and firmware issues of 5 or so years ago. Then they bought up other lesser drivew makers, and moved most of their R&D and engineering out of Minneapolis, where it had been for 40+ years. Had very good performance for the money. Seems to be a business on the down swing though lately. The biggest problem is the shrinking warranty. Was 5 years for the retail version just 3-5 years ago, since it’s been knocked down from 5, to 3, to 2, to 1 year now! I think they know something we don’t. Such a shame, they used to be the king, never even considered buying anything else. My last drive was a 7.2k 2TB Toshiba and I love it, super quiet and energy effiecent, and it at least has a 3 year warranty.
