I’ve been using these 2tb barracuda 3.5 internal hard drives with my: Voyager Q Quad Interface Dock for 2.5 and 3.5 Serial ATA Drives. So far so good. We’re talking hard drives here, so at some point something will fail. Needless to say, have a back-up for your back-up. At 7200rpm’s it tends to run a little hot. I have a little fan at the end of my desk that I use to cool my drives.

The hard drive in my Dell 620 (Seagate ST31000524AS) was failing … causing slow operation and repeatedly throwing reports of disk errors, bad sectors, etc. despite my attempts at repair using a variety of programs. After finally getting a successful disk image from the original drive using Macrium Reflect, I swapped the drives and loaded the disk image onto this replacement. On restart my PC booted right up from this drive and it’s been running like new since.

From what I can tell so far, my hard drive is working very well. I love having the extra storage on my computer.

Lasted about a year. Won’t be buying this brand ever again

Seagate cudas are usually good. Hoping the same for this. Using it as a time machine drive.
Carmine Veum (verified owner) –
Nice reliable drive, fast enough to edit off of. The drive doesn’t come with screws for mounting or any cables. So make sure to pick those up separately.

I have owned many Seagate hard drives through the years and have never had a failure. In my opinion, it is a trusted brand that stands behind its products. Right now I’m running 10 Seagate hard drives in my two-disc stack boxes.

Works like it is supposed to. I bought 2.

I think most of the comments/ratings leave out important data. For instance the MTBF and Warranty is less than the more expensive HDDs. I’m just pointing that out so you understand why the price is so low. In most cases that may not matter to you. Especially if you only use it for storage of photo’s because you may never come near the 600,000.00 MTBF. FYI! look at the Western Digital (blue label) drive warranty and specifications. One last thought Seagate and Western Digital, one of them brought out the other. P.S. I do think this drive is a good deal.

I got 4 of these for use in a NAS device. I selected these due to their largest in class 256mb cache [most have 64mb]. So far so good – they are quick, quiet and run cool.

Bought a new Dell XPS from B&H and wanted to configure with a backup internal RAID drive. This Seagate drive worked perfectly. Just needed the SATA cable and a bit of courage to open my new machine and mess with it. So far so good. Seems to have worked perfectly.

What can I say? It’s a hard drive. So far, so good. Smooth XPpro install. Took 1hr 45min but it is 1 terabyte. No problems.
Vern Morissette (verified owner) –
The drive works fine, but when in standby mode it makes a high-pitched whine that drives me crazy. I had to disable standby mode (hdparm -S 0), which means I am using more power than I should be.

I have 3 installed in my new Drobo. Work well so far.

I’ve purchased several of these drives for use in an external thunderbolt drive chassis. I use them for professional video editing. The perform very well. I’ve had no issues with them at all. Plus, B&H consistently has the lowest price I can find. Very pleased with these drives and will continue to buy them as needed.

I’m a fan of Seagate drives. I’ve had bad experiences with others and usually do not with Seagate. I purchased two of these drives and mirrored them in a Synology NAS in July of 2012. Almost exactly 1 year later, one drive failed. The other appears to be working fine but…I can’t say I’m pleased.

Installed drive and cloned my old 2TB Seagate using Seagate software. Everything went okay and fast. Using new drive as master now. Old drive disconnected and will be used as cloned backup. I backup my data on protected USB drives to protect myself.

works good as of this day

Well packaged by BandH. Installed in nas raid device. Ran at max load over 72 hours uploading initial files with no problems. So, they passed the rather heavy breakin and since it has only been a short tenure here, look forward to them being durable.
