I wish it would have come with the mounting screws.
Brooks McKenzie (verified owner) –
A basic, totally functional, slightly loud HDD. Great for archiving RAWs. Noticeably slow if you try to import and edit directly off of it, though.

This is my 3rd 4TB BarraCuda. They have all been 100% problem free. I know it’s a small sample size but they are cheap and reliable.

Needed an upgrade from the paltry 500gb storage for my PS4. This was the “cheapest” drive available at 2tb. Runs fine. May be a tincy wincy bit faster than the OG but the capacity will allow you to download lots and lots of time wasting games 😉

I installed this 6tb to replace the 1tb drive that came with the computer. The Windows OS was on an a solid state drive and that helped make this an easy install. It worked perfectly on the first boot up after a minor change to the boot up instructions. It is a 7200 6tb drive at a great price and I highly recommend it.

I have owned a few older 4TB versions of it and the 8TB is a great addition.

It’s a 5400 RPM SMR hard drive, so I’m not going to complain about how slow it is. What I’ve never seen before is a hard drive without SATA clips. My desktop kept freezing up, turns out the SATA cable was loose. This hard drive, unlike every other one I’ve seen in my life, lacks the SATA clips. I wedged the SATA cable with my mobo’s 24-pin cable to hold it in, and the problem went away. For laptops and hard drive enclosures this will be fine, but this isn’t something I’d buy again for a desktop. In general any hard drive without SATA clips leaves a bad impression on me.

I bought this as a time machine backup drive for my two Mac computers and its working great so far. Its a huge relieve being so quiet during use compared to my old tired HDD that sounded like a garbage disposal filled with ice. Great work Seagate, very happy with this purchase!

Got it to hold my growing media library. Its 5400 rpm is ideal for music & video, while being quiet and energy efficient. Installation was straightforward. Initialize the disk at the windows prompt. Open Disk Management, right click, and choose New Simple Volume Wizard to set up your drive. Never had any issues with Seagate drives over many years and would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for a new desktop hard drive.

Not sure what to say it’s a hard drive and does hard drive stuff. Holds tons of your pictures, programs, applications, games, files. All in a compact package. This thing will hold it all!
Eva Bernier (verified owner) –
Very please with the quality of the HDD. Quick way to add more room to my PlayStation. I will definitely buy from Seagate again!

I have a Samsung T5, which only can transfer at max of 300Mb/s (never reaches its advertised 500Mb/s rate!). This Seagate transfer at ~160Mb/s continuously and reliably, sometimes more, while being a non-SSD drive. This is reliable enough for you to edit off of them. For half of the price, you’ll sacrifice half of the speed of Samsung T5, but gained 8 times the capacity (1TB vs 8TB). Good job, Seagate! Bad job, Samsung!
