I’ve always used Seagate drives and never had any problems. Two of these are in a network storage unit setup in RAID config. Access is screaming fast! Won’t disappoint.

Seagate hard drive is really loud.
Carolina Gleichner (verified owner) –
I was concerned when B&H said these drives were discontinued: I had had no problems with previous purchases and had heard nothing, either. I’m delighted that they are back.
Casimer Fisher (verified owner) –
Fast, super amount of storage, quiet. It works great. Not much else to say.
Greyson McDermott (verified owner) –
just what I needed

Replaced 2x2TB HGST drives (2011 vintage) in my file server with the 4TB IronWolf. I do 20-30GBs of transfers daily. File transfer rates across the network with the HGST drives averaged 100-120 MB/s. The IronDog only gives 75-85 MB/s transfers. Test transfers to and from another computer with a WD Red 1TB 5400rpm drive average 98-110 MB/s, so it’s not rotation speed. Same computers, SATA III/6 GB/s everywhere, 1GB LAN network, no other traffic during testing – yet 25% less speed. The drive does work, just longer to do everything. Wish I’d bought a WD or a newer HGST instead.

I’m constantly buying more and more of these as my production company continues to grow. We’ve switched over to fully shooting RAW video on projects so we need all the storage we can get haha!

perfect addition to my Synology DiskStation

Great reliable drive for my Drobo!
William Purdy (verified owner) –
Works seamlessly with my QNAP TVS-672XT. Quick read and right access.

All purely subjective… I’m not unhappy with these drives. They are quite fast. The active noise is no worse than most others I’ve used; may be quieter. It’s a mechanical drive, it’s supposed to make a little noise. It’s the constant knocking sound every two seconds when it is idling that is annoying. Sounds like it is parking a head or something. I haven’t worked out what is happening but apparently it is supposed to do this. Fortunately, it is in a closet. Whining aside, they are fast and relatively cheap. I’ll definitely buy them again. It will be from B&H too.

The drive has been used heavily ( 1TB written) for the last week and has performed flawlessly.

I ordered eight (8) of these for a QNAP I recently purchased. Unfortunately, one of them arrived non-functioning, would not even register as existing. Tried re-insertion, checked the mount etc., no luck. Will RMA with B&H, it’s always such a comfort order with these guys (as I’ve been doing for almost 30 years) because I know they’ll take care and make it right.
Chase Schmeler (verified owner) –
In a word: reliable. For years.

Had this for two weeks now, and it’s working nicely (although obviously too early to say anything about durability). Using this in a desktop, not NAS, which I frequently send into hibernation. While not strictly designed for this use case, the drive seems to be taking it without problems.
Ashton Mueller (verified owner) –
Sturdy, long-lasting, and trusted. I’ve used IronWolves for a long while now and I have nothing bad to say about them. Any failures or issues happen well after the expected lifespan. An easy recommendation.
Sandra Kovacek (verified owner) –
works well in my Drobo arrays.
Gregoria Cummerata (verified owner) –
Got this drive for a great price, shipping was really fast, comes well packaged in a retail box. Formatted it as NTFS with Windows 10 (where it checks the whole drive) and it came out all good. Will update this review if I have any trouble with it.
Karli Gislason (verified owner) –
I installed it in my Drobo system and just worked. No special instructions, no software to update, I just plugged it in and it worked. I can not say that about a lot of computer stuff.

Great nas drive
