Had this for two weeks now, and it’s working nicely (although obviously too early to say anything about durability). Using this in a desktop, not NAS, which I frequently send into hibernation. While not strictly designed for this use case, the drive seems to be taking it without problems.

Easy to use plenty of storage quiet and dependable

I received this item and after installing it had immediate problems. The drive was clicking like the drive I was replacing that was going bad. Access time is very slow at times while it is making noises. Maybe this drive was handled poorly in transit.

Needed to replace a 4TB hard drive and find a great deal on this 8TB.

I should really write this in 3 yrs time but the odds of remembering are close to zero. So, here it is after 3 months. I replaced my Buffalo NAS with a Synology NAS (a diskless DS118 model – hence I needed a disk for it.) The disk in the Buffalo NAS, (a 2TB WD) had been gradually increasing the number of bad sectors and was about 80% full, so it was time to increase the size and get a new clean disk. Everything worked well – no problems configuring any part of the new NAS. I did notice that the files moved faster – finding and loading them from NAS to computer and moving files onto the NAS. Both seemed significantly faster than before. This could be both the disk and the new NAS hardware & software. But the ethernet connection was the same. One downside – it is noisy. I have a smallish office and the unit is on a shelf in that office. It is noticeably noisier than the WD unit, possibly because the Synology NAS keeps turning it off – to save something. So, it has to start up again when I access it – hence the increased noise. It is about 6 ft away from my head and somewhat higher. As a result, it is not possible to do audio editing while the disk is rattling – you need a very quiet space to do audio editing. Otherwise it is excellent. The real evaluation is how long it lasts – will it still be good in 3 yrs?

Although not officially supported, the DroboPro recognizes the 16TB drive and is working fine (so far).

I bought a Twin Pack of these drives in December, 2018, and after spending a full week transferring files onto them, one of the two crashed irreparably. B&H wouldnt refund. Seagate would only replace. Damage was already done. Client walked. Thanks a lot!

It went great. I was running 3 backup drives and one died. This larger one I installed and partitioned to mirror what the original 3 were called. I put it in and took out the 2 still good ones. Acronis never figured out there was a change and all backups going like clockwork. A little lower rpm than original but I expect fine to backup and more rugged so more secure.

Bought for new computer to serve as a backup. Works perfectly so far. Never been let down by Seagate.

Slower than a 7200 rpm drive, but cheaper too. No complaints after a few weeks of use.

I won’t really know how well this drive works for 3-4 years. If it’s failed before then, it wasn’t a good choice. If it’s still running after 5 years, it’s excellent. One note is that it is noisier when seeking than the WD drives I was using.

I only use the IronWolf drives in my QNAP NAS drive to ensure the safety of my photographs. A NAS drive is designed to run 24×7 for long periods and you need a dependable drive to avoid losing images.

Works great in our Synology 4 bay NAS.The NAS is Like a new lease on life. With tons of space, we’re moving our old DVD archive routine onto the NAS. When a drive fails (which it will) more Iron Wolfs will replace with no down time or data loss.

No complaints, a little loud, if they still perform after two years I’ll upgrade this review to 5 stars.

Seagate is my go-to brand for hard drives. I got these on sale recently and put them in my Synology 4 bay NAS. Running smoothly with good transfer speeds. I expect them to be reliable like all my other Seagate drives.

Glad I went with the Seagate IronWolf 6TB Nas drive. So far they work great in my Synology DiskStation DS918+. The drives are highly compatible with Synology’s DSM operating system and provide the best value/gig I could find right now. Also, glad I went with the 6TB drive as the usable space is only about 5.5TB. I would have been disappointed if I went with 4TB drives and only got 3.5TB usable. Running (4) of these in RAID 5 gives me 16.4TB usable on my NAS which is a perfect starting point to consolidate all my data/media.
