It was quite easy to use, but slightly confusing at first probably due to my lack of expertise. After my friend helped a little, it was very smooth. It backed up my tablet in less than 2 hours, and I feel a lot less insecure about losing all my projects. I intend to use it to backup files on a regular basis now. This Seagate failed less than 3 months from purchase date. I used to only buy Seagate – they used to be extremely reliable. Sadly it seems in the past few years they’ve become less and less reliable. I had a couple of Seagate drives fail in the past few years. Took another chance hoping it was a fluke but it seems they’re just not that reliable anymore. After this one bit the dust I think I’ll try a different company.

Sure this drive does its job and it looks nice. But there are two downsides: – The plastic case seems to big for what it holds inside. When you hold it you feel it gives back under the thin plastic, so there is air in there and you know the drive could have been smaller. And for portable drives, size matters. In portable lives every little space in your bag matters. – The stripes on the side. These catch a bit of dirt. But it looks nice.

Although I’ve had the drive only for a week or so, it has nearly 2TB of data files and have no negative issues to report. it is performing as advertised except that it idles when not in use and takes a bit of time before it is ready to read or write files. Annoying but not fatal; similar to Toshiba’s and Western Digital’s USB HDD. Seagate’s Backup Plus 5TB drive that I also own is a much better performer in that it doesn’t idle when not in use and, thus far, hasn’t failed in the six months I’ve used it.
