Well what can you say about a hard drive? It works, and it stores things adequately. 🙂 I have never had an issue with any of my Seagate drives. And I’ve had enough for one or two issues to be expected. But these just do what I need them to and they do it well. Guess that’s about all I can say about it.

I purchased it to back-up important data from my computer. Then my laptop was stolen from me on Halloween. I used this Seagate Hard Drive to save the progress I made while writing my novel in the month of November. I completed my book in late December. Ever since, whenever I connect my hard drive to a computer it doesn’t show up at all. I cannot access any of the data that I don’t have backed up anywhere else. I purchased my Seagate External Hard Drive on Oct. 2. It’s Dec. 2 and it is no longer functional.

I’ve been on an adventure for over two years now and this is the only harddrive that is not giving me any problems. I’ve been on any road you can think of and in temperatures between -40*C and 48*C. Its really bombproof!

Smaller than the standard HDD. Which makes it more suitable to pack and travel. Execellent read and write speed.

Plenty of room to backup your old PC when you move to Windows 10 on that new PC. And it’s so small you can put all your photos and files in your pocket.

Not really much I can say about this hard drive; its a hard drive. It does what I need it to do which is store digitized movies. But it IS yet another successful transaction with B&H. Have been doing business with them for years and never had an unhappy experience.

I love Seagate drives , internal and external. This one is no exception. Seagate never leaves you down, very reliable, perfect size, fast transfer speed!

I purchased the unit to back up files from a soon to be decommissioned 2012 MacAir computer. The transfer went smoothly and as far as I can tell perfectly. Intended use is as a static back up, that is, it is for security of existing material rather than ongoing addition of new files. For the price, it seems just right for what I need.

Who would believe that an external drive would be anything other than a plug-and-play? Well, this drive not only could not take files copied from my other drive, but it locked up my computer when I tried to restart. I had to remove the drive and restore the computer to salvage get it running again. Even after formatting the drive multiple times at the suggestion of Seagate’s tech support, it still would not take the transfer from my other drives. It would stop after several minutes and say that the drive needed to be formatted. Seagate’s tech support was prompt, and they tried to be helpful, but all I have after a week is a black brick that I am scared to reconnect to my computer. The Seagate SeaTools program diagnostic software that their tech support suggested wouldn’t even recognize the drive in order to diagnose it. My previous experience with Seagate back-up drives has been good, which is the reason I opted for this new 4TB version.

Effortless and quick setup on 2010 MacBook Pro with USB 2.0; light and unobtrusive, a remarkable leap forward from the heavy, powered LaCies that this drive replaces. What a difference nine years makes in the world of digital technology!

I had no great expectations given the capacity of this drive. I put this thing to the test and, at first, it was just so-so. I found that the factory had formatted this drive as NTFS (VFAT can’t run this large.) but they made the block size only 4k. When I reformatted it to 32k NTFS it came alive. The response times went down and it just worked better for the work I ask it to do. Your mileage may vary, it all depends on what you need. This guy powers from the USB connection, so make sure the device(s) you use can handle the extra draw…it uses way less juice than older USB hybrids I’ve owned.

These are great for external storage for DVR Recordings, extra computer storage, and security camera video.

Not happy with this drive. When it is recognized by my computer (which is rare) it’s very slow-48-50MB/second. Often in the middle of a long download it will stop writing and send various error messages. I’ve been in contact with Seagate and, to their credit, they sent me a replacement. It’s just as bad. I have tried both with various computers and have the same problems on all of them. I have 2 smaller WD brand drives that work fine. I’m tired of fooling with it.
