I had a hard time trying to format it for my mac, but it works pretty well! I thought it was a plug and play one, but it didn’t seem to work that way.

Super

I got it for Time Machine backup. Reformatting for the MAC was straight forward and it has been working as expected ever since.

I am a wedding/commercial videographer and love these guys for easy backups. Easy plug and go, and does what it says. Very reliable hard drive. I have so many of them, I feel its so silly to get rid of my footage when I can keep multiple projects on these reasonably priced drives.

Body feels a bit brittle, cables provided not the best quality, but works satisfactory..

The drive is overall amazing, incredibly small, and not too loud. The only issue is that it can be quite slow. I only got up to 50 MB/S write speed sequential, so I wouldn’t recommend running an OS on it as I did, you should use an SSD instead.

It Doesn’t Need Power. It Doesn’t Need Cooling. It’s Affordable. It’s Portable.

I bought this backing up the family’s Macs. I reformatted it to HFS+ and copied the drives using SuperDuper – no muss no fuss!

I use SSDs for editing but archive raw video and projects on HDDs. I’ve had great success and no problem from more than 15 years of hard drives. These, not so much. I bought two, one didn’t work and one was unbelievably slow. I could not transfer files to the first, even after reformatting it. Brick. The second took 6 hours to transfer 120G of files, often dipping below 1MB/s (topping out at 10Mb/s occasionally) I understand that HDDs are much slower than their solid state counterparts, but this is really bad. This makes me uncomfortable about the reliability of them. I see a lot of good reviews and have had success with WD in the past. So, like the review title suggests, maybe I got a bad batch.

Moved thousands of photos to this drive fast and without a problem.

Does what it is supposed to. Only criticism is that the included cable is a bit short for a desktop.

What I love from this HD are its size and weight. I take it with me on the road and doesn’t matter how many shoots I have this have plenty of capacity to store.
Brooklyn Sauer (verified owner) –

These 4TB drives have a good moderate capacity and a very compact physical size. Perfect for just about any storage needs.

I’ve used several others of these drives, so this review is only about this specific purchase, but the drive acted as if it had been damaged. I reformatted it exFat since it was for media delivery to a client. It formatted, was still slow, but worked so I sent it off since I didn’t have time to wait to get a replacement. I will probably not get one of these again.

I’m insanely busy overseeing a million digital art projects ( working at the university) and this is just plug and play heaven….. easy, fast well, I wish it was faster , but ok does the job, reasonable price (never raise it !) B&H is reliable, fast order set up, delivery, one and done. AMAZING!

Bought this as a back-up for my photos and videos. I have huge photo files which were slowing down my laptop excessively, so I use this to store them and transfer them to a larger capacity computer for photo/video processing. Working well so far.
