I bought 3 of these for backup for my photos that had filled my 5T external hard drives. The 5T were portable so no AC power. But they were fine. So I bought these WITH AC power, and lots of space and it’s like watching grass grow when I save or retrieve. It’s not my computer. It’s hefty, lots of memory, power, graphics capability. But I can wait for 30 seconds or longer for this 14T hard drive to give me a photo, or save a photo. It’s not just one of them that’s a problem. I back up to 2 of them and they’re equally slow. And they moan, groan while they wake up, while they save. I hate them. I’m going to wipe them and give all 3 away and start over again with something that’s worth having. This is beyond frustrating and tiresome.

This drive is slim and very fast. Its also very quiet. I used it as backup only but i am very pleased. 8TB of data to be save and its portable

The most important thing about hard drives is their reliability. I’ve had this drive for only about a week so I can’t give an accurate assessment regarding that. But so far so good. It looks attractive, it runs quiet, and it transfers data fast.

I use this hard drive to backup my images and it works great with Apple Time Machine

It’s a disk, it stores things, and it just works.

have 2 others also going for a while so far all is good quiet speed is acceptable, if you go for lunch or a looong coffee break……………………………………………………………. better than spending 10k$ on a 8Tb SSD keep em cool as they get very hot without cooling built a drive tower with fans with the air-conditioner 23c keeps em happy loading all day

Huge amount of space. I hope it works well for years.

This is my 3rd Seagate external HD, which I lined up next to a 5 and 6 TB. Again a Seagate because they never let me down. Great transfer speed, silent operation.

It’s early days to make sure it lasts, but no problems so far. Quieter than I was led to expect from some other reviews, and fast. Great for storing music files which exist on portable drives as well. So, so far, so good.

Using it as a back up for ex4.

This is a quality drive. It is a shingled drive so don’t expect continuous blazing speed. When you edit a file, it has to write it somewhere else then rewrite three tracks to make the old location available again. It does that between reads and writes, so it needs downtime for disk maintenance. I would not put it in a RAID array. Also filling it past 80% will slow it down. But for a backup drive or to store data that is not being constantly altered it does very good. To store my documents, photos and music it is great. You get a lot of data in a small package with this drive.

These are great value – 8Tb for less than what I’ve been paying for 5Tb. Delivery was quick and I was kept notified at each stage. I’ll be buying from here again.

Have used all the major brands, Seagate has the best reputation for simply working. Only Seagate brand drives have never failed (fingers crossed!), this in a controlled environment, UPS etc etc. Two thumbs up!

This is my 3rd Seagate unit (the other two are 5TB size). Unfortunately, one of the older units gave indications of dying and I bought the 8TB unit. I formatted the 8TB unit with the Mac Disk Utility and was up and running in less than 10 minutes. And the unit is working perfectly.

Great size, easy use, great price, I love it

I own several Seagate Drives… most work very well. Some don’t. This one has a continuous clicking sound… the drive is struggling with something, keeps repeating. Since I have stored sensitive information on it, I can’t return it (factor reset doesn’t 100% guarantee the data is gone). I’m stuck buying another drive.

At my office we have a dozen of these, for shuttling video files around, back-up, and on site data management. Always trouble free.
