We have only owned it for a few weeks but so far it works as expected. Looks good on our desk. Fan is quiet.

So frustrated, I’m copying over about 12 TB from another drive to use this as a backup and 2 of these in a row have failed. Both make awful grinding noises as well. I have a 6TB of the same drive and it is fine. It takes like 2 days to copy over my files, so to do that and then find that the drive is making noise and the light is blinking when not in use (indicating an issue) is incredibly frustrating.

I reformatted quickly to a Mac compliant drive and filled it up and now sits on a shelf hopefully to never be called upon for the real test.

Works as expected. Good value for an external hard drive.

The product is very good. But the delivery went to a wrong address, and it was opened. The item brought to my address on Sunday, 01/26/2020 around noon. Hoping my next purchases from H&B will deliver to the correct address before took off…

Delivery was quick and easy. Set up for a PS4 was easy; works well.

paid 179 for this drive. Great price compared to the WD or Lacie options. It is a great storage device for my still and or Video storage between jobs. Pretty good for editing with 4k proxy in FCXP or PrPCC.

I purchased several of these drives for for image backups. The USB 3 speed is significantly faster than USB 2 and DVD writing, and the single drive is infinitely more convenient than having to use multiple DVDs.

Not a bad drive for the price. Mine lasted about 4 years before it crapped out. I didn’t lose anything because it held redundant files, being a backup drive and all. I bought it primarily because it was on clearance at a local store. Not recommended for constant hard use, it’s meant to dump files on it, then updated periodically with backups. But recommended for the value, a tool to keep multiple backups. You never know when a drive will fail. But I also still have have a few 10-15 year old hard drives that still work surprisingly. It’s amazing how much storage space you can get for the price these days, it’s generally a bargain, though HDD’s lack the speed of pricier SSD’s.

This is exactly as stated its an 8 TB External USB 3.0 drive. It is very functional and fast. Plenty of storage for almost every user. bhphotovideo.com is where I purchased mine it was excellent for the price. This is not a paid review. ( I wish I was paid to review items like this 😉 ). If you need extra space this is the drive you need. If you fall into the 1% of users that need mountains of storage space this is a great addition for the cost. Adding this drive into my collection I now have 12 TB of storage space. The 8 TB are great for storing all of your HD videos or pictures or anything else you want to keep, also works as a computer backup option. Ive only had it a few weeks so I dont know how it holds up over time yet, but if its like my 5 TB Seagate Expantion its been running solid for almost 2 years with daily constant use.

I bought this for my iMac. I needed a big drive to store video files. I do not work directly off of the drive, so I can’t comment on how fast it would be for something like that. As a backup and to transfer files though it works quick enough. I did have to reformat the drive the first time I hooked it up, it isn’t formatted for Mac straight out of the box.

I bought this to back up a master project drive and used the professional software, Hedge, to initiate the process. About 30% into the backup process it failed, and corrupted the drive… Immediately returned it and move to WD.

I have used Seagate External Hard Drives for many years . They’ve been reliable. Just in case, I always back up my photos on 2 External Dives !

I have three that I bought in the last year – one for an external drive and two for backups. Hopefully time will prove them sturdy for a good long time.

Love this drive. Small footprint for the capacity and it runs really quiet! Forgot I installed it. It is sitting behind my screen backing up without a hiccup. I highly recommend this.

I needed a compact external to replace my many external drives, this is the perfect solution. Very fast and efficient.

As a professional photographer, I need high quality storage space that I can count on. I have used the Seagate Hard Drives exclusively for many years with no problems. The 6TB size is perfect for main storage and back up. I have 8 hard drives total, 4 for main and 4 for backup.

After seeing that Seagate discontinued my favorite hard drive it was a treat to see this new version.

Mine came with a 14TB Seagate IronWolf Pro. This drive can go for over $400 on Amazon and at the $200 price I paid for this, it was a steal. Tested with CrystalDiskMark, Sequential speeds of 250MB/s read and write. Great for bulk storage of videos, games, etc. Can be shucked to use the 14TB drive as an internal hard drive, albeit voiding the warranty.

This Seagate 18TB drive performs consistently well so I’m going to address a few of the criticisms stated here: 1. Noise is no worse than any other hard drive you may have 2. Speed It is designed for huge chunks of data and speed is not/should not be the primary consideration. If you want speed then get an Nvme SSD. It is not going to be as fast as your internal drive or an SSD but it is acceptable for what it can do. I use it with a Mac myself, but did not reformat it and left it in EX-FAT format. Yet even so the speed is not bad, and it makes it more universally usable for transfers, etc. It is primarily a backup for me; I wouldn’t use any external drive as a primary source for data. Thus I am using Nvme SSDs for speed and then backing up on this drive. It is perfect for that purpose.
