Amazing storage per TB considering current pricing and the drive is achieving transfer speed of 242MB/s on a standard USB 3 port, (so I would assume on a 3.1 as well). ‘The noise issue’ some report, depends what you put the unit on. Putting the drive directly on wood appears to bring out a harmonic frequency ‘piezo’ speaker effect and on a metal base, it downright rings. Put the drive on a mouse pad buffer first and the thing is very quiet.

Works wonderfully. Does everything it’s supposed to-and it has a usb-a plug and power plug, with literally a dozen different wall outlet attachments for universal adapters!

Worth the wait though, a real HD that is not SMR in 2021!!!

Have a few SG externals, so have always been good for me. This one was easy to get started with. On a 3.0 USB port, it’s smooth as glass and fast. Happy with it, as I usually am with Seagate!

I already had one of this brand 6TB, I love how it works so now I took an 18TB, and I’m satisfied!

The cost is reasonable, I did not pay a lot of taxes in Mexico, I recommend it a lot!

I used these drives for backing up my own NZ railroad video and sound files, work files and final writes. Great value buying these larger units from B & H along with my DVD and BR disc needs. Super quick delivery for the over 14,000km distance also.

Before buying it, I saw many reviews saying it is very loud. But since I do not use it as a cloud storage, so I don’t really care if it is a bit loud. Speed is good enough I believe. The speed between USB 3.0 storage transferring large files usually starts at 150m/s, then goes down and stabilizeat 100m/s. And for windows system, you can just plug it in and start using it. The real storage size is 7.27 TB. Just in case. And for the noise part. I had another seagate4TB Storage which “clicks” sometimes when it is been accessed. But for this one, it is like there is a little drum inside. And yes, it is pretty loud compareto most portable storage. If you only need to use it occasionally, it is a bang for the buck.

I don’t know why the vendors expect us to review drives when we first plug them in. How can I give a hard drive a 5 star rating until they’ve run for 4 or 5 years with no issues. So far so good, however. I use a product called Crashplan for cloud and local backup option and I recommend it. I find it works a little smoother on Macs than Carbonite, which works great on my wife’s Windows PC. I use one STEB3000100 3TB for my data, and a 2nd one as backup to the data drive. Crashplan backs up my important files to the cloud on an ongoing basis, for me that’s about 400 GB. I also have Crashplan backup all my data to the 2nd Seagate and keep them identical. Works fine. I don’t even know it’s there.

I use it as an expansion drive for photo editing and it’s quiet, quick enough for my needs and affordable. I may get another one soon.

We immediately attached this drive and backed up our system. Have owned many Seagate external hard drives and always been happy with them

Item is listed as functional on both pc and MacBook, however it does not work on Mac. I have exchanged this item twice now and have decided to return the item to purchase a different hard drive because this simply does not work on my MacBook Pro 12.1. Terrible use of my time.

I’m using this Seagate 10TB External Hard Drive as a Plex server and boy can it hold a lot of media! Setup is easy and truly plug and play. This is the sweet spot for cost/terabyte (unless of course you go with a NAS RAID box) and for reliability with a failure rate lower then 4TB to 6TB external drives. Just get it at the sale price and you’re good to go!

Love the large capacity. The drive is mostly very quiet but from time-to-time it does make a louder grinding sound. Overall impressed.

I took the unit out of the box, plugged it into my USB hub, and my PC computer immediately recognized it. I was also able to transfer about 3TB of images and other data very easily. The reason I have not given this device 5 stars is that I have not had it long enough to be able to address its longevity.

I use these drives to archive my projects. The speed is just fine also. What is nice is their size and form factor. Eazy to store in compartments and eazy to awitch out drives when needed. I have several of these in different datasizes but all the same form factor. I do hope they continue with this line so I can have the same drives for a few more years to come.

Ideal for backup drive.
