This is a great product for those who need extra storage and on the go. The read and write data transfer speed isn’t all that fast or great but it gets the job done for massive storage. I highly recommend this product from B&H because of their awesome team, reliable service, free expedited shipping, great products, and overall no one can beat their prices!

My last hard drive lasted a week so I am positive. Its not 10TB, just 9.I don’t know why the manufacturer labels it a 10TB. Started up on Windows with no too much effort.

Just to make things clear. Actual storage is 7.3 TB., it needs to plug in external power to make it work. Not made for traveling a lot. Its noisy, but I Always wear headphones. Could have been awesome to plug two devices at the same time, but its fine

I purchased this super-large USB drive as a dedicated backup to my 8GB Synology NAS which as a USB Backup application. The extra capacity provides future space for versioning and archive of deleted files.

It’s great having lots of storage around, especially for backing up other, smaller drives.

Delivers on the promise. Would certainly purchase again!

This is my third Seagate 8Tb External in three years and I have, to date, not had any issues with these drives. This is not a 7200 rpm drive but it does allow you to hoard your backup copies of all those photos and videos that you are creating. Worth the purchase.

Runs fast enough to serve as a manual backup drive, and 18TB should be good enough for several years. It is not silent but the fan is reasonably quiet. I reformatted it for MacOS, by the way. IN GENERAL I’ve noticed that virtually all reviews for external hard drives have a few people complaining of slow R/W, and I think that is because drives are usually delivered in EXFAT format to accommodate both Mac and PC. EXFAT always runs slow in my experience.

If you are looking for an inexpensive, reliable and say to use backup solution, here it is. Great for the price, capacity and convenience. Yes, a bit noisy and slow, but this is not an issue for occasional backups.

As context, my computer is a top of the line, MacBook Pro 2016 in immaculate condition running all the latest software. The drives (I got two of them) worked fine when I first plugged them in. I formatted them moved loads of data to one drive, and setup Time Machine backup to a second one. I tested them, was able to save and retrieve files, and run TM backups to them, so I thought all was well. A day or two later, I realized that my internet was INSANELY slow. I went through loads of troubleshooting with Apple senior advisors (even reinstalling my OS!!!) until I realized it was isolated to when I had the drives plugged in. My internet was running about 100 mbps, and as soon as I plugged in one or both drives, it dropped to 2-5 mbps – so slow my computer cannot send files to my cloud backup software, I cannot make video calls, even browsing the internet is painful. B&H would not issue a refund because I had already discarded the boxes (thinking everything was fine). I am stuck with these bum drives which I will essentially be throwing out because they are useless. USE CAUTION if you are considering these for your MacBook.

Works right out of the box, no messing, a big bargain for the (sale) price.

Ive had this expansion drive for about a month now, and very happy with it. It works as intended which is all you could want from a hard drive. It is decently quiet, I can hardly hear hear it over the soft hum of my desktop. Speeds around 100 mb/s. Nothing negative to say. So far so good.

So far so good still transferring files from many old drives

Great unit. Easy set up. I needed redundancy for my photo storage.
Henry Krajcik (verified owner) –
Like very much, they are very secure and easy to work with, never had any problems of any kind with this units.

Great performing external. Good sustained performance for large file transfers. Wish that the serial number were visible on the top of the drive to make it easier to tell which drive is which while they’re plugged in.

This drive seems to be a lot faster writing and reading data compared to my other drives. Since it is mainly an archival drive it doesn’t get daily use, but I still feel it’s faster.
