Item is a good buy for the price. fits nicely on desk. only drawback is that it is alittle on the louder side.

This died after only backing up once. A couple of weeks after backing it up, I plugged it back into my PC to do another backup, and it just beeped and I could hear the arm motor try to move. Very disappointed.

Makes a random knocking sound.

For a 50-yr old, tech-challenged chick, this external hard drive was very easy to set up. I plugged it in to my 64-bit op system and started moving large quantities of files to the new expansion hard drive. I use Win7 professional and have the older usb 2.0. Moving from computer to external did take some time (huge files). However, moving/organizing the files within the seagate itself flew.

I needed a place to backup my system and 3 internal drives and this 8TB, USB 3.0 drive has worked perfectly for me.
Marcel Huels (verified owner) –
The Seagate was easy to set up and use. Very thankful for it.

I did not expect to buy this model, but with a great sale price I was able to get more memory than I expected.

For the purposes for my studio this works perfectly

BIG expansion desktop drive. This is my BU to my 8Tb NAS. USB 3.0 reads and writes FAST!

Bought a couple of these on backorder as they were on sale from B&H and I wanted to lock in the price. The drives themselves have been working great for a couple weeks now. I shucked them so I could use the HDD’s inside my Unraid server. Inside the externals are Seagate Ironwolf Pro NAS drives. AFAIK, these are only below the Seagate Exos Enterprise HDD’s in Seagate’s model hierarchy. Only real complaint is that I backordered these in April 2021 and it took literally 6mo to receive them from B&H (just received October 2021) as they were waiting on them from Seagate. So these are great if in stock at a good price, but if on backorder I’d look elsewhere.

I finally decided to consolidate my back up drives from 10 to 2—these Seagate 8 Tb drives worked right from the plug in, needed no formatting and so far so good—been using them ~ 1 week so far, so let’s see how long they last?

Using as a backup drive with Windows backup software. Works as expected! Thanks, B&H, for the sale price!
Mekhi Weber (verified owner) –
I use the drive for storing photos. So far so good.
Emelie Lynch (verified owner) –
I experienced data corruption when using cables other than the very short cable the drive ships with. Maybe I have bad cables but they seem to work fine with other drives.

I bought this to back up my Samsung SSDs for video work. After 4 months, I keep getting an error saying that my MacBook Pro can’t repair the drive and suggests backing up the drive as soon as possible. It is now a read-only drive with no way to fix it except formating.

We are using it as a Time Machine Drive for a Retina iMac for video work. No Problems!

it’s all that i need to scan my slides and negatives

Good HDD, no issues with delivery or performance so far

No set up needed. Just plug it in! Works well
