Store, access, and edit up to 10TB of data, whether at home or on-the-go, including documents, music, movies, photos, and more with the 10TB Backup Plus USB 3.0 External Hard Drive with USB Hub from Seagate. This drive connects to your system using its integrated micro-USB 3.0 (micro-B 10-pin) port and provides data transfer speeds of up to 160 MB/s, while also being backwards compatible with USB 2.0. In addition to its storage capabilities, this drive has also been equipped with dual front-mounted USB 3.0 Type-A ports, which can be used to recharge your tablet, smartphone, or camera, as well as back up files, even if your system is turned off or in standby mode.
Seagate’s Backup Plus Hub is compatible with both Windows and Mac systems. It is pre-formatted for Windows and Mac compatibility requires the downloadable NTFS driver for Mac. Once installed, this drive can be used interchangeably between Windows and Mac without needing to be reformatted. Also included is downloadable Seagate backup software, a 4′ micro-USB 3.0 to USB Type-A cable, a power adapter, and a complimentary four month membership to Adobe’s Creative Cloud Photography Plan.
Note: The free Adobe membership is redeemable during product registration and must be redeemed within one month of registration.

This is an excellent backup drive for photos. However, the transfer rate is a bit slower than I hoped.

From what I can tell this is abnormal and not typical. Not every single one of these Seagate backup plus Hub Drives will be faulty, but it seems to have a higher number of failure than other backup drives. Now I’m stuck having to deal with Seagate hardware warranty which is 2 years and having to find a solution for storing my data while not having the drive. As always B&H is super helpful, I purchased it for work while budget was approved but didn’t use it until 3 months later when I needed it. This is when I discovered the issue. You would expect transfer speeds of 150 MB/s or faster with anything over 50 MB/s being decent enough to transfer files at a reasonable speed. Currently it’s taking me over 2 hours for 31.3 GB which is just unacceptable – you would expect faster speeds from USB 2.0 btw.

I got this because my current 3TB drive had reached its max for all the movies stored on it. This has worked out great so far and I’ve used it to dump lots of music and photos on it as well. We like to watch movies through our Apple TV with it and so far I’ve seen zero issues. Great price and lots of storage as well. Not very noisy either. I would definitely buy another if needed.

(On my Macs) DriveDX with the drivers to support S.M.A.R.T. status on USB devices warned the drive was running too hot inside the enclosure which provides no ventilation. DriveDX also revealed the drive used in the 10TB model is a 7200 rpm Seagate Barracuda Pro 10TB which currently retails for $434.99 compared to $191.98 for the Backup Plus – that’s over $230 cheaper! I stripped the drive from the Backup Plus housing (which will damage the housing) and now use it with the OWC Drive Dock USB Type-C Dual Drive Bay. While the 10TB Backup Plus is a real bargain with faster transfer rates than claimed by Seagate, some other Backup Plus versions, like an 8TB version I bought, contain painfully slow SMR drives.

Performs exactly as expected, would be nice to know if the HD is a Enterprise version, didn’t see it in the specs. Happy Camper.

For once I have a hard drive that will last and I can’t fill up tomorrow. Thanks for the B&H wonderful shipping.

Drive is fast. However, you can hear the hard disk performing read and write operation. Other than that I am happy.

Seagate has a well deserved reputation when it comes to hard drives, and this unit falls right in line. I have three of these to back up an extensive set of photos and movies. Great product.

Set up for non-eventful. I transferred two folders. During the third folder transfer, the unit quit working. When I clicked on the icon for the device, my iMac froze, a rare happening. After re-booting, the drive was not recognized by the computer. After struggling with the mess, I contacted Seagate Customer Service via phone. After a long time, Seagate concluded the drive was defective. Then they informed me shipping for the replacement drive would be $11.95. After my protest, they agreed to waive the charge but will not issue me a free return label until I notify them that the replacement unit has arrived. Shipment of the replacement is 3-5 days. All-in-all, it is very disappointing. Until now, I had a high opinion of Seagate.

Despite several online search results hinting this drive is PS5 compatible, it is in fact not. This drive lacks support for USB SuperSpeed, which is a requirement for PS5 external USB drive compatibility. Also the hub feature of this drive is an additional factor that may impact compatibility and performance. One might expect the port on the back of the unit to be a direct interface that bypasses the hub, but that does not appear to be the case. In my tests I saw average write speeds of approximately 27MB/s for write 200MB/s for read.

It’s a thicc external hard drive that requires you to plug it into a wall to use. If it could run off phantom, I’d be amazed, but it still kind of sucks that you need to plug it in. I entirely understand. Four stars because I haven’t had it long enough to really judge how well it can hold out, but it looks promising so far. Knock on wood.

I have been running one of these on a Mac for about a year – flawless. The MyBook was in service the same length of time and has started to fail. The Seagate manual says to download an app so that you don’t have to reformat for Mac. I prefer to reformat and not use an intermediate app. Easy to do in DiskUtility. New unit up and running in just a few minutes.
