Store, access, and edit up to 10TB of data, whether at home or on-the-go, including documents, music, movies, photos, and more with the 10TB Backup Plus USB 3.0 External Hard Drive with USB Hub from Seagate. This drive connects to your system using its integrated micro-USB 3.0 (micro-B 10-pin) port and provides data transfer speeds of up to 160 MB/s, while also being backwards compatible with USB 2.0. In addition to its storage capabilities, this drive has also been equipped with dual front-mounted USB 3.0 Type-A ports, which can be used to recharge your tablet, smartphone, or camera, as well as back up files, even if your system is turned off or in standby mode.
Seagate’s Backup Plus Hub is compatible with both Windows and Mac systems. It is pre-formatted for Windows and Mac compatibility requires the downloadable NTFS driver for Mac. Once installed, this drive can be used interchangeably between Windows and Mac without needing to be reformatted. Also included is downloadable Seagate backup software, a 4′ micro-USB 3.0 to USB Type-A cable, a power adapter, and a complimentary four month membership to Adobe’s Creative Cloud Photography Plan.

I have a WD My Cloud Server (12TB) that has two USB expansion Ports on the back, I has used up both and was wondering how to easily increase the capacity and be able to continue doing so without having to configure more cloud servers. The 2 USB ports on the front of the Seagate drive mean that I can Daisy Chain Disks. So I can expand my storage cloud easily. I can buy a cheaper non Hub Drive for one of the Ports and another Seagate/Hub Drive for the other for practically limitless expansion.

It’s a big drive for a reasonable price; the speed is largely irrelevant to me — I use it as my central repository for raw image files. This format of drive also has the useful USB 3 pass-through ports on the front and though I don’t use them at present, they might be very useful in future.

I needed a new backup drive. This one has huge capacity (6Tb), switches itself on and off via my docking station, and acts as a usb hub too. Very reasonable price to boot.

I bought two of these external hard drives to store my pictures on to replace two 5 TB Seagate drives. I have never had a Seagate hard drive fail and these seem like they will be more of the same. The USB 3.0 hubs are also an advantage. The new Seagate Toolkit is much better than the Seagate Dashboard that came with my older drives and it also works on my 5 TB drives. Seagate is an excellent option for storage.

So far this external hard drive is my blessing from the sky. Its capacity of 8TB for the outside dimensions is superb. Have is running for long periods of time without any slow downs. The only thing that I’m not too enthusiastic is the fact that it has preloaded programs that may be necessary but don’t used then or not fully used.

The jury is still out. Immediately after installing the drive, an annoying popup with the Seagate logo appeared asking me to format the drive. It stated that one could click on a block to not ask this question again and then click on cancel. After much communication with Seagate Support and reformatting the drive (at their recommendation), an process that took 48 hours, the pesky popup is still with me. I give the drive two stars, because I think Seagate Support is woefully inadequate. I’m sorry I purchased this drive.

While it’s not the fastest drive on the market, it seems to be pretty reliable as a backup/storage drive. I find that when trying to edit 4K video on a drive like this, it can slow down the process when comes to rendering effects, etc. But overall it seems to be performing quite well for me as a storage drive. I think one key factor to extending the life of this hard drive is to not keep it connected to your computer continuously when not in use. Also, not keeping it plug to a power source when not in use helps.

I buy a new one every year, and archive the old one in a bank safe. Ill keep buying Seagate drives for as long as they make them. I backup three drives onto it. I have had to do one total restoration of data onto a new system, when a hard drive failed. Everything worked.
