Store, access, and edit up to 8TB of data, whether at home or on-the-go, including documents, music, movies, photos, and more with the 8TB Backup Plus USB 3.0 External Hard Drive with USB Hub from Seagate. This drive connects to your system using its integrated micro-USB 3.0 (micro-B 10-pin) port and provides data transfer speeds of up to 160 MB/s, while also being backwards compatible with USB 2.0. In addition to its storage capabilities, this drive has also been equipped with dual front-mounted USB 3.0 Type-A ports, which can be used to recharge your tablet, smartphone, or camera, as well as back up files, even if your system is turned off or in standby mode.
Seagate’s Backup Plus Hub is compatible with both Windows and Mac systems. It is pre-formatted for Windows and Mac compatibility requires the downloadable NTFS driver for Mac. Once installed, this drive can be used interchangeably between Windows and Mac without needing to be reformatted. Also included is downloadable Seagate backup software, a 4′ micro-USB 3.0 to USB Type-A cable, a power adapter, and a complimentary four month membership to Adobe’s Creative Cloud Photography Plan.

This is my third Seagate USB 3.0 external HD with USB Hub because I have never had a problem with the first two. I started with a 2TB, then bought a 4TB, and now an 8TB as my need for storage space steady increases over the years that I’ve been running by photography business. These external HD are reliable which is important to me and my clients whose work gets stored on them. Of course, who can’t use a couple more USB ports too!

I have the 6TB version of this and it was the fastest of my 4 external drives, so I bought 2 of the 8TB drive in the same line…. Nowhere on B&H, or Seagates websites is there any mention or RPMs… well, for some reason the make it up as they go along. The Backup plus hub 8TB drives are 5400 RPM… to slow for my video work 🙁 Why would the 6TB of the same drive be 7200RPM? Who knows, but I took these out of the external case to use as a RAID internally, so I guess I just got suckered out of $300+ 🙁

I bought 2 of these. One has failed and is currently sitting at a data recovery company to get the FCPX projects off of it.. Although we always back up footage the actual projects / libraries were on this drive. We will be out around $1000 to get our data back. Plus we have to take parts from the other one to use to get the data off of the first one. The recovery company said they see a lot os Seagate drives..Save yourself from the hassle that these drives will cost you.

I was really excited to receive this large hard drive to back up my video files. The only down side I can say is the installation. It wanted to use the Seagate software that was on the drive. At first it didn’t really work properly, but finally got it working with some experimentation. Now it works great.

Seagate makes excellent external hard drives, and this is no exception. The 10TB Backup Plus USB 3.0 performs fast and reliably. It is an asset for people with significant numbers of files (such as a photographer). Files can be retrieved easily and quickly, and backup is simple and effective. The USB hub is an added bonus. I am considering getting another one, and would certainly recommend it to others.

Bought this to backup an internal 8T drive that stores all my video and photos. Took about 10 hours or so to backup 2 T. Its a USB drive so I didnt expect it to be done in 30 minutes. Its fast enough to stream music and even 4 K video without stuttering. You won’t likely find a better option at $150. Shipped fast as usual from B&H. Thanks

Been a huge fan of Seagate for many years. I was buying Lacie until Seagate bought them out. As a film editor and music creator I have a whole house full of hard drives, been that way for a long time and I’ve always relied on Seagate to keep me backed up and ready to go. I purchased my first 8TB from Costco in an attempt to move a lot of files to this one place like a server, who would think I’d fill it up so soon, but here I am almost out of space, so since I’ve had such great luck with this drive, I did not hesitate to purchase another one. I really like the extra usb ports on the front! When you have as many drives as I do, having that USB port there is a time saver when I’m needing to get some files moved over quickly. Great drives! I don’t see myself purchasing another brand! I’d take a picture, but I have too many to even try and get into one picture!

Was easy to setup and partition on my Mac. Doesn’t make much noise and the logo LED isn’t too bothersome. So far it’s been solid and transfer rates line up with what the advertised specs. Great desktop backup solution. Highly recommend.

This drive seems to be fast and works as a drive should. Two things bother me about this drive: I own 2 other Seagate 4-TB drives, and they get done copying my files and stop making sounds. This 6TB drive keeps on clicking for many minutes after it shows 100% copy of files or folders. Does this mean that it is not really done copying? And, second, I am still running Win 7 Pro, and every once in a while the shortcut icon to this drive shows up with a question mark over it on booting up which stays there until the next boot, although it seems to work OK as a drive even with the question mark.
