Store, access, and edit up to 8TB of data, whether at home or on-the-go, including documents, music, movies, photos, and more with the 8TB Backup Plus USB 3.0 External Hard Drive with USB Hub from Seagate. This drive connects to your system using its integrated micro-USB 3.0 (micro-B 10-pin) port and provides data transfer speeds of up to 160 MB/s, while also being backwards compatible with USB 2.0. In addition to its storage capabilities, this drive has also been equipped with dual front-mounted USB 3.0 Type-A ports, which can be used to recharge your tablet, smartphone, or camera, as well as back up files, even if your system is turned off or in standby mode.
Seagate’s Backup Plus Hub is compatible with both Windows and Mac systems. It is pre-formatted for Windows and Mac compatibility requires the downloadable NTFS driver for Mac. Once installed, this drive can be used interchangeably between Windows and Mac without needing to be reformatted. Also included is downloadable Seagate backup software, a 4′ micro-USB 3.0 to USB Type-A cable, a power adapter, and a complimentary four month membership to Adobe’s Creative Cloud Photography Plan.

Bought it to use to perform automatic backups. I liked the two additional USB ports provided. Initially though of using it for Windows File History. When I hooked it up it defaulted to the Seagate backup. Wasn’t able to determine exactly how this worked and how it compared to File History from the Seagate user manual. I let the Seagate backup run and I’m happy with it. I don’t need to have access to every version of every file, only the most current version. The drive is a bit noisy but I’m getting used to it.

Works perfectly as a large backup drive. having the additional USB ports is definitely a bonus. aesthetically pleasing on a desktop and handy for phone charging or quickly booting up/transferring files to a mobile or flash drive.

Despite several online search results hinting this drive is PS5 compatible, it is in fact not. This drive lacks support for USB SuperSpeed, which is a requirement for PS5 external USB drive compatibility. Also the hub feature of this drive is an additional factor that may impact compatibility and performance. One might expect the port on the back of the unit to be a direct interface that bypasses the hub, but that does not appear to be the case. In my tests I saw average write speeds of approximately 27MB/s for write 200MB/s for read.

Beauty! Seagate stuff is supepr reliable, have had this thing plugged in and working hard for over a year now, it’s doing great! I love that you can use it as a usb hub and just download footage/photos straight to the harddrive without having to go through your computer.

Ordered the hard drive. They said they’d be open that day. Took money, processed order. Closed again. Order wasn’t shipped. 2 and a half weeks from time order was placed to when I received it. That’s absolutely too long and ridiculous.

Drive was easily set up and easy to use. The two USB ports in the front are actually a lot more handy then I originally thought they would be. Drive is super quite and cannot hear it over the CLX next to it.

I have used this hard drive for a few weeks on a Win 7 computer, and am generally satisfied with it. The drive is extremely easy to set up (simply plug in!) and very quiet. It is fairly slow, and therefore best for those who want to have a lot of storage space at a low price, but dont mind waiting a bit longer for large storage jobs to finish.
