Designed for growing your digital library, the black 4TB Backup Plus USB 3.0 External Hard Drive from Seagate is formatted as exFAT and compatible with Windows and Mac right out of the box. It connects to systems running Windows 7 and higher or macOS 10.11 and higher using its micro-USB port and an included 18" micro-USB to USB Type-A cable that supports USB 3.0, which is also known as USB 3.1 Gen 1, as well as USB 2.0. It is bus powered so no additional power supplies are required and also features plug-and-play functionality, meaning that no additional drives are required for use.
Also included with Backup Plus is downloadable Toolkit Backup Software, which lets you backup on demand, schedule automatic backups as you desire, and mirror folders for file management. Take advantage of a 1-year subscription to Mylio Create to organize your photos and protect, edit, share, and sync them across multiple devices and use a 2-month subscription to Adobe’s Creative Cloud Photography Plan to edit and create using Lightroom CC and Photoshop CC.

Use it to backup photo files. Works as advertised. I miss the light not blinking when it is loading just to give me reassurance.

I have had the drive about a month now and have no problems with it. With that said, the free backup software that can be downloaded is not worth much, very limited. That is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.

The hard drive is really slim and looks like a neat toy. I have it too short to make some valuable conclusion. However, if you expect to get Includes 200GB of cloud storage with OneDrive for 2 years as advertised, you may get disappointed. There is no info how to get it. Actually, this is not only with the item sold by BH. I got sooner a similar product from a different store with the same issue.

My first Seagate in over 20 years. The drive performs about as I expected. The backup software is terrible. Bare bones and useless interface, I will probably continue using my WDC backup.

Works like a charm!

Reviews said devise was loud, was expecting John Force Funny Car type noise. Not so, some low level clicking once in a while. It had trouble backing up with the software as delivered. I erased the disk and then no problem.

Quiet and fast. Hub also works well.

Bought 2 of these for new Mac TM and backing up old Mac TM. Can’t be too safe these days. Works fine for the price.

Have had for several months and have not had any issues with the drive. Not sure about transfer speeds but is faster then previous external hard drive.

I bought a dozen of these. We’ve used 5 of them and 2 out of the 5 have failed. One was bad the second time we plugged it in and one failed after we filled it with data.

It’s really much quicker than the old 1TB Western Digital External Hard Drive that I had. I was able to offload everything from it in a fairly short amount of time. The WD hard drive used to take -forever- to open and display the AutoPlay alert box, but the Seagate hard drive opens it almost instantly.

My brand new drive (mac version) bought 1 month ago backed up my computer and now won’t mount. Tried everything and Seagate has NO PHONE NUMBER. Because the drive won’t mount, I can’t access my serial number to use their web page. Wasted hours. Am going to scream.

I was quickly running out of hard drive space on my new mac mini. This drive hooked right up and gave me 10 themes the storage. It is super quick for file transfers and takes up hardly any space.

The unit I received mounted only once on my iMac (the automated setup routine), then it stopped. Disc Utility showed disc errors.

After 4 months of backup my data of about 6 terabytes it failed are you kidding me lost all my data need to pay over 300 dollars to recover data wata piece of garbage dont waste your money on this junk unless you want to spend some money on data recovery buy any other brand but Seagate data recovery companies say Seagate is the worst to try and recover data 4 months really suks

I have several of these for all my photos. Easy to operate and hold a ton of data. They seem pretty durable also.

Good overall value (as of May 2020) for storage and size, and I think a decent choice for secondary backups. I needed to reformat it for Time Machine, which was easy to do. Seemed a bit slower than expected for the initial backup, but once past that it should be fine for intended purpose. Can’t comment on long-term reliability since I just bought this, but I have found other Seagate Backup Plus externals reliable.

I work photography and video that consume a lot of hard disk space, as soon as I finish each job I backup them on these hard drives for future orders from my clients. I have six 5TB discs and they have never failed me, highly recommended
