I bought two of these drives, one for back-ups and another as an extra drive. I like that they don’t require their own power sources and simply run off of USB ports. Plus these drives are small, completely quiet, and hold LOTS of data. They’re not fast drives, but definitely fast enough for my use. I like them!

I’m always nervous about committing so much data to a large drive and I’ve found that a new drive takes at least 9 months before you know if it has problems. So I’ll have to wait to evaluate its reliability but the capacity for the price is outstanding.

I bought a second external hard drive because my traveling and needs to back my images on the road, First one is very reliable and easy to carry so I decide to purchase another one and I’m very happy for price and portable size and specially 5TB storage need it for drone footage and photos!

Ok, it’s a portable hard drive… it works. But why talk-up the new colors, etc., and then ship a cheap plastic cased product? Seriously, it was a gift to my wife… she asked me to take the cheap white plastic off. She thought it was a little box. I had to tell her THAT is the case built onto the drive. It sits in a drawer now.

Being a Seagate user, I was laready rsitered for one of their products. When I went to reister this drive the URL would not work and I had to dig to find the info I needed. Once installed, it has been working great. This is the reason for the low rating. The drive is great- just a bad installing process on line. This drive should give me plenty of room for my photos!! USB 3.0 is a plus also along with the Front USB ports.

As always, excellent product, fair and competitive prices, and excellent service! I’m a 20 year regular patron of B&H and hopefully for 20 more!

Regularly (several times an hour) disconnects and reconnects to my machine. This is fine unless files are being transferred, at which point it becomes a major annoyance.

Perfect for big amount of data.

I bought this to replace my old 2TB backup drive. It’s built like a tank, works perfectly and was very reasonably priced.

I am completely shocked. I started to use this drive as archive. Now, its dead. Do NOT buy Seagate! This is not my first dead Seagate drive, but this is the first that died in less than a years.

I am a wedding/commercial videographer and love these guys for easy backups. Easy plug and go, and does what it says. Very reliable hard drive.

Great little drive! I have 3. I use them for what I call cold storage. I use them for photo archives. I do not need speed – I do not store video. They are never on all the time – just for image archive. I have other larger 4T full size drives for day to day back up. I use 1t drive dedicated by year. Basically they only get used 5-15 times a year. Always make sure everything is backed up in two places other than your computer. I maintain 3 backup locations. All drives will fail at some point in time. None of my drives have ever failed (I feel blessed) and most are Seagate.

working just fine; transfers data from my computer a little faster than my other five-year old external hard drive

Very compact. It’s small enough to fit in a pocket comfortably. Has a fairly low write speed. Transferred a 400gig file to it and after looking at the progress, decided to go do something else and come back. I just might pick up a second one.
