I recently added a USB3 card to my mid 2010 Mac Pro. Now using this drive for time machine backups is MUCH faster than the original Apple Time Capsule. Use to take over 24 hours to BU 2 terabytes, now takes a few hours. Worked right out of the box with Mac OS

I had never bought a backup hard drive before and didn’t know what to expect. I plugged the drive into my laptop and it immediately went into set up mode and allowed me to set up how often I want to perform the backup. Everything is straightforward and uncomplicated. This was the first backup I performed and it completed it quickly.

B&H replaced the defective drive with one that worked. However, there was a delay because they were only going to replace it with one of the same color. When I told them color wasn’t important, they shipped right away.

This is the second one of these drives I have purchased, but the first was a couple of months ago and it is working great so I believe this one will do as well. B&H is great to do business with.

I got this drive to back up the computer in my recording studio, and thanks to the Toolkit software, it works automatically backing up all my music, video and more. The USB3 connection allows for a really impressive transfer rate. It’s a good price too, for a 4 TB drive. Recommended.

Huge data storage in such small compact hard drive, love it, the speed is pretty fast, make no noise at all. Using it all day ,but no heat buildup, pretty cool to touch.. I recommend to anyone who needs a new hard drive.

Other reviews have mentioned the short-lived nature of this hard drive. I can’t comment on that because I have only had it for less than a month. However, I have done a few entire-PC backups on it using Acronis software and it works perfectly. It took me a few tries to get the Acronis settings the way I wanted them, and at one point it was taking over 15 hours to back up something that should have taken far less time. The drive just kept going and going and going–no damage resulting from the long period of use. Will have to wait and see how it all shakes down, but for right now it’s great and super-easy to use (at least with a PC-can’t comment on Mac usage).

I was surprised at the small footprint of this mid-sized backup external hard drive. It is easy to set up and once done, I don;t have to think (much) about it. Great investment for under $100.

I reformatted it to use the Mac encrypted formatting, and started using it with Time Machine as well as backing up from other drives, using up to 4 Tera with no problem. I see that Time Machine backups faster with this unit than any of the other desktop drives of 4Tera. I saw mentions of the noise, yes it is lauder if you place it over a wooden table. The additional UBS ports help a lot.

Nice to have 8 Tb of storage. A little awkward cable set up but works fine for Time Machine or Carbon Copy Cloner when attached to my iMac and is reasonably fast. I had trouble when attaching it to my network via the router (Asus) but this is probably due to file format or my incompetence.
