Designed for growing your digital library, the light blue 4TB Backup Plus USB 3.0 External Hard Drive from Seagate is formatted as exFAT and compatible with Windows and Mac right out of the box. It connects to systems running Windows 7 and higher or macOS 10.11 and higher using its micro-USB port and an included 18" micro-USB to USB Type-A cable that supports USB 3.0, which is also known as USB 3.1 Gen 1, as well as USB 2.0. It is bus powered so no additional power supplies are required and also features plug-and-play functionality, meaning that no additional drives are required for use.
Also included with Backup Plus is downloadable Toolkit Backup Software, which lets you backup on demand, schedule automatic backups as you desire, and mirror folders for file management. Take advantage of a 1-year subscription to Mylio Create to organize your photos and protect, edit, share, and sync them across multiple devices and use a 2-month subscription to Adobe’s Creative Cloud Photography Plan to edit and create using Lightroom CC and Photoshop CC.

After 4 months of backup my data of about 6 terabytes it failed are you kidding me lost all my data need to pay over 300 dollars to recover data wata piece of garbage dont waste your money on this junk unless you want to spend some money on data recovery buy any other brand but Seagate data recovery companies say Seagate is the worst to try and recover data 4 months really suks

2016 version changed a few things that made it a little harder to find those functions. I don’t understand the rationale behind moving functions from left to right on the tool bar. Problem to sync up with Google Calendar continues to cripple Outlook, which my major app. Come on, Microsoft. This is Home & Business Edition!

The hard drive is really slim and looks like a neat toy. I have it too short to make some valuable conclusion. However, if you expect to get Includes 200GB of cloud storage with OneDrive for 2 years as advertised, you may get disappointed. There is no info how to get it. Actually, this is not only with the item sold by BH. I got sooner a similar product from a different store with the same issue.

I use the drive for backup purposes and to store a huge amount of backup data. The drive has everything you could want (tiny package, fast, giant storage capability, stylish and cool, USB3) and just about nothing that you don’t. Plus, the usual B&H benefits like a price you cannot beat, free shipping. How can you not pick up a few of them. I did!

remember this is a back up drive, it is not made for constant write read use. It is noisy as all these seagates are. I bought because it was cheap at the time and I have formatted it for windows pc’s. It seems slow, not usb3 speeds. I know the theoretical speeds you never get, but 80 to 100m/bs should be available and I get that on other drives, this one I was getting 30m/bs. If this continues it will be very disapointing. I have other seagate 8tb drives and I get 90+m/bs, so possibly a fault or issues with the files. Now that I have 6tb on it and will slowly add more back ups it is fine. Also not the first usb3 drive I’ve used that transferred at usb 2 speeds. I pulled a portable apart and used it in e sata and the drive was fine, so maybe it is the usb/sata interface.

Having used multi-system generic backups like TRANSCEND, this product is wired into MS/Win-10, it appears. The Toolbox helper app is OK for full and unguided backups — but forget incremental where only new files in any folder are updated. Can’t do what good ol ZIP does in with ‘-u’! (At least I couldn’t find a update newer files in a selected folder option.) And not recognized by our Ubuntu systems. We’re a multi-OS company, using Win10 when forced, Ubuntu and CentOS for production-development. At least can use as a drive in Explorer and manually copy files — but very tedious with helper app. In hindsight, we should install an NAS and resurrect some scripts.

Significantly thicker than the 1TB and 2TB red drives I bought last time. Bought a couple 4TB (the 2nd one to duplicate the 1st) for easy travel use. These small drives are easier to transport with my laptop than full size external drives yet have large capacity

Used as time machine backup for 6 months and then would no longer mount to my Mac. Appreciate that Seagate is sending replacement drive for $11.95 shipping and return of failed drive, but I don’t trust it with my data anymore (will use as a secondary backup).
