This drive is silent and has a small footprint. Fully USB powered so a power cord is not required. Runs a bit warm. It’s a winner!

I purchased 9/20/17. Used it as a Time Machine backup drive (just like I’ve done with half a dozen other drives over the years). It lasted barely two months before it quit working. I tried it on two different Mac’s. Neither could recognize the drive. Disk Utility could not repair it. B&H customer service basically said “Tough luck, contact Seagate.” So I am in the process of trying to get it replaced, or get my money back…. BARELY TWO MONTHS USE!!!

I bought a 4tb external drive but it turned out not to work, I had to send it back, but paid for transportation from Armenia

This USB drive is compact, takes up very little space on my desk and does not require a separate power supply (and wires). Very good backup for all my file & photo’s. Seagate’s software included on the drive works great for making easy backups or for syncing your files. I am considering buying a second one for addition storage and security.

Works well though the software was a bit cumbersome to set up. And the unit is fairly bulky. But all my information is backed up with plenty of room to grow!

Excellent form factor and space for the price.

Small lite weight drive. Fast transfers of data.

I needed more space in my Xbox and this was just the ticket. I had to do basic configuration in the Xbox Settings but that was easy. The drive was on sale and gives plenty of breathing room for games. One cable and tuck the drive out of sight and play on!

Transfer speed thru a USB 3 port on a brand new computer is a pitiful 4 or 5 MB/s. My Western Digital drive is at least 10-15 times faster thru the same port. I would return it but I am concerned about erasing the sensitive data that I have already copied to it. I guess it will be a pretty drink coaster!

Significantly thicker than the 1TB and 2TB red drives I bought last time. Bought a couple 4TB (the 2nd one to duplicate the 1st) for easy travel use. These small drives are easier to transport with my laptop than full size external drives yet have large capacity

Great little drive! I have 3. I use them for what I call cold storage. I use them for photo archives. I do not need speed – I do not store video. They are never on all the time – just for image archive. I have other larger 4T full size drives for day to day back up. I use 1t drive dedicated by year. Basically they only get used 5-15 times a year. Always make sure everything is backed up in two places other than your computer. I maintain 3 backup locations. All drives will fail at some point in time. None of my drives have ever failed (I feel blessed) and most are Seagate.

As a photographer, I need lots of accessible data storage, so after reading the reviews I decided to buy it – and I’m very happy with it. First, it is the size of a paperback novel. It comes pre-formatted for mac (yes I bought the mac version) so it really is plug and play. I was impressed that it uses the Enterprise level internals so it should be well built. It also has two powered USB ports on the front, so if your laptop lacks ports, you can plug in external devices through the 8TB drive. The drive itself is almost silent. Some say it’s a bit slow for running applications, but if you think of it as storage for your data, then you can leave plenty of room on your computer for the applications. I had no discernable delay in reading large images or video straight from the external drive. Overall this is a well thought out and stylish storage solution.

This external hard drive is plug-and-play easy. I have a Macbook Pro and it was as simple as plug in USB, double-click the quick start and finish setup (2 minutes tops), and start backing up files.

Very big 5Tb capacity in your pocket. In my 2019 mac mini read and write speeds between 130 – 140 mbps. Very Good speed for a traditional spinning disc. Nice and discret design.

This is a dream for anyone who uses a media player! it’s fast, it’s HUGE capacity makes it a really useful drive. It’s simple to reformat to NTSF (although I use a mac my media player does not utilise HSF) Be advised – it does take longer than any other drive to format. I have Paragon NTSF on my mac and this makes it a snap to transfer files. I was very impressed with the footprint of theSeagate 8TB Desktop Drive with Integrated USB Hub for Mac. Small enough to fit in anywhere. The power supply is excellent, it comes with all plug type adapters for any power outlet world wide. The PSU is beefy too. with a nice 3 amp output. The use hub is handy, you can hang a couple more devices off the drive as well. i would recommend either low powered devices or self powered usb devices such as a desktop hard drive. You must take into account that the hub and drive share the same power supply. All in all a great investment for your home or office, If you need mass storage this one will certainly be the go for you.
