It is small. It is fast. It is super easy. What’s not to like? I really like it!!!

This is a good quality, high capacity external hard drive at a very reasonable price. — An it’s small! However, it only comes with a 6 UBS cable (meant for laptops, I guess). Since I use it with my desktop I needed to purchase an additional 18 cord — about $8. Now it works fine.

When I got my new Nikon mirrorless camera I had to upgrade my photo editing & browsing software in order to open and edit the raw NEF files. In order to upgrade I first had to upgrade my Mac system software. After all upgrades were completed everything worked but my old Mac (late 2013 iMac) ran really slow. I thought I would have to get a new computer. But then I thought maybe an SSD would improve performance. I chose this Seagate 500GB SSD and moved the system software and all applications to it. What a HUGE difference in speed and performance. I may eventually replace my external HDs where I store my photos with SSDs also.

I got this to go with a new laptop that was a bit short on storage. It’s very, very, very fast and works fantastically well! I should mention the USB cable is very short. Maybe 6 inches. Not ideal in some situations. Then again, the drive itself is very small. It fits neatly in the palm of my hand.

Cloned the contents of my mother’s 2015 iMac hdd onto this drive and then set the ssd as the default boot drive. Immediately the computer went from feeling slow and ready for recycling, to feeling like a contemporary machine. Best bang-for-the-buck upgrade ever.

TLDR: Bad drive to edit off of, but if you are just storing files or need a cheap SSD for quick transfers, then this is okay. Every Seagate drive I have ever bought has problems. However, I decided to give their SSD a shot. Continues to disconnect from my computer when working on it as well as increase buffer time in PPro projects I am editing off of this with. I have fully rendered footage that will not play back. Never an issue with any WD or Sandisk drives I have used in the past. Move to my WD SSD and everything works perfectly.
