Built with a compact form factor and ready for on-the-go usage, the 2TB Expansion Portable USB 3.0 External Hard Drive from Seagate is preformatted exFAT, meaning it is compatible with Windows and Mac right out of the box. This hard drive provides a storage capacity of up to 2TB and connects to your host system using its micro-USB 3.0 interface, which also provides bus power using an included USB 3.0 cable, meaning that no external power is required. Copy and saving data is easy – simply drag and drop. Also included is Seagate’s Rescue Data Recovery Services.
Please note that reformatting may be required for use with Apple’s Time Machine. Also, Rescue Data Recovery Services is not available in all countries.

Haven’t used it yet as my laptop says that it isn’t readable, nor can it repair it to be able to read it. Not sure if this is defected or if they’re selling products that don’t even work.

5 stars because it’s an excellent little hard drive, as Seagate products typically are. However, for buyer research, I want to expand on a question regarding compatibility with iPad, and echo what I’ve written in the Q&A: All answers in the Q&A section say that it’s not compatible with iPad, but in my experience, it works just fine with my 3rd Gen iPad Pro (USB-C*) if the drive is formatted in either exFAT or Mac OS Extended Journaled (both in GUID partition). *An iPad with a Lightning connector would likely require the use of Apple’s Lightning to USB Camera Adapter However the one caveat is that I can’t get the iPad to recognize it if it’s encrypted. When formatted in Mac OS Extended Journaled Encrypted, the drive would power on, but it would not be recognized by the iPad in the Files app. My SSD and USB flash drive work fine formatted in APFS Encrypted, but APFS is not recommended for hard disks. Therefore, if you want to use this drive with encryption, format it in Mac OS Extended Journaled Encrypted and use it with a Mac. But if you want something encrypted for direct use with your iPad, use a flash drive or an external SSD and use APFS Encrypted. Otherwise, this is a fine hard disk drive all around and will see use as a compact backup for the iPad’s flash drive and other personal files (using a Mac for file management).

I use it with a Mac, so I reformatted it to work with Mac protected formatting, it works well.

I purchased this hard drive because I needed more space to download games for my PlayStation 4 since I only do digital downloads. It was easy to set up and has been great so far!

We ordered the Seagate 1TB external hard drive at a fair price. It was delivered on time. In this application we disassembled the external hard drive and then inserted it into a laptop. It was easy, quick and worked perfectly saving our customer money. We’ll use B&H again,@

I purchased these for my wife as an archival backup of her graphics, videos, music and photos of immense sentimental value to her. She is so happy to know she now has a safety copy of what to her are priceless images.

This is a great drive, just like the many other Seagate drives I’ve purchased. It is a bit larger than the 1 and 2 TB drives, but works great. I use it to back up my computer and external drives. Then I move this drive off-site for a month. Every 30 days I back everything up with it.

I have three of these drives, and love them. No external power supply means I can move them back and forth between laptop and desktop computers. Small size makes them easy to carry. Great little drives.

Although I’ve had the drive only for a week or so, it has nearly 2TB of data files and have no negative issues to report. it is performing as advertised except that it idles when not in use and takes a bit of time before it is ready to read or write files. Annoying but not fatal; similar to Toshiba’s and Western Digital’s USB HDD. Seagate’s Backup Plus 5TB drive that I also own is a much better performer in that it doesn’t idle when not in use and, thus far, hasn’t failed in the six months I’ve used it.
