Built with a compact form factor and ready for on-the-go usage, the 2TB Expansion Portable USB 3.0 External Hard Drive from Seagate is preformatted exFAT, meaning it is compatible with Windows and Mac right out of the box. This hard drive provides a storage capacity of up to 2TB and connects to your host system using its micro-USB 3.0 interface, which also provides bus power using an included USB 3.0 cable, meaning that no external power is required. Copy and saving data is easy – simply drag and drop. Also included is Seagate’s Rescue Data Recovery Services.
Please note that reformatting may be required for use with Apple’s Time Machine. Also, Rescue Data Recovery Services is not available in all countries.

I bought this to extend the storage on an Xbox One. Plugged in and was downloading in a few minutes. Formatting was simple and quick. It’s only been a week, but so far so good. I’ve had other Seagate drives with years of service and still going strong. I hope the same for this one.

popped it out of the case and put into Ubiquiti Cloud Key Gen2 Plus to upgrade storage… works great. HOWEVER, don’t forget to backup the orig 1TB unit so you can restore the system to this new device or your Cloud Key must be reprogrammed in total. (buying this in the case and throwing away the case is much cheaper than buying the bare drive — go figure.

Excellent hard disk. I bought it to serve as storage for a Channel Master DVR to record from my HD Over the air antenna. It works fine with the DVR. Recommend. I have another Seagate 1 TB older HDD that has served me well for over ten years, daily use.

I own more than a half dozen of Seagate portables going back years and have never ever had any issues unlike some other brands. I use these for photo backups and backups of my backups mostly and wouldn’t think to use anything other than a Seagate . . .

This is the best 5TB external drive that I’ve found. It’s significantly cheaper and much more convenient than those that require their own power source. This one is plug and play, and the speed is as good or better than any other external drive that I have (including 2 that have their own power source). The construction feels solid, and the footprint is small-basically the same size as the 2TB drive and slightly less than twice as thick. As with all storage devices, failure is a risk, but so far, I’ve had better luck with Seagate than other manufacturers.
