Built with a compact form factor and ready for on-the-go usage, the 5TB Expansion Portable USB 3.0 External Hard Drive from Seagate is preformatted exFAT, meaning it is compatible with Windows and Mac right out of the box. This hard drive provides a storage capacity of up to 5TB and connects to your host system using its micro-USB 3.0 interface, which also provides bus power using an included USB 3.0 cable, meaning that no external power is required. Copy and saving data is easy – simply drag and drop. Also included is Seagate’s Rescue Data Recovery Services.
Please note that reformatting may be required for use with Apple’s Time Machine. Also, Rescue Data Recovery Services is not available in all countries.

I bought the 2 TB, portable External Hard Drive which is more than enough storage for me. I back up all my files so as I won’t lose them if my desk top powers down or if the power goes out. I have a surge protector also. I like it because it is small, light and has a fast speed. I would have liked it if it was white,

I have just acquired several of these drives, and have loaded them up, so far with no problems whatsoever, from a 2014 vintage iMac. The drives are very quiet, and seem reasonably fast. I would say they are an excellent value, and very subtle and minimalist in their design. No complaints whatever, and B&H are excellent at shipping to Canada. Gotta love free shipping!

Not happy with this drive. When it is recognized by my computer (which is rare) it’s very slow-48-50MB/second. Often in the middle of a long download it will stop writing and send various error messages. I’ve been in contact with Seagate and, to their credit, they sent me a replacement. It’s just as bad. I have tried both with various computers and have the same problems on all of them. I have 2 smaller WD brand drives that work fine. I’m tired of fooling with it.

I bought this to use as DVR storage for an AirTV2 in part because there was a really good deal on it and in part because it was certified to work with the product. The AirTV2 is only USB 2.0 so speed is not really an issue for my purpose. The drive operates fine with the AirTV2 and is whisper quiet so I’m happy.

I bought the product to transfer files from a Win XP computer to a Win 10 computer. I plugged this drive in & it set up itself .The transfer went without a hitch and didn’t have to reformat. The process was quick & easy. It is now my back-up.

these are cheap drives so you should test them immediately after you buy them. I left mine on the shelf till i needed it and then it was too late to return it when I realized it was defective.
