Built with a compact form factor and ready for on-the-go usage, the 5TB Expansion Portable USB 3.0 External Hard Drive from Seagate is preformatted exFAT, meaning it is compatible with Windows and Mac right out of the box. This hard drive provides a storage capacity of up to 5TB and connects to your host system using its micro-USB 3.0 interface, which also provides bus power using an included USB 3.0 cable, meaning that no external power is required. Copy and saving data is easy – simply drag and drop. Also included is Seagate’s Rescue Data Recovery Services.
Please note that reformatting may be required for use with Apple’s Time Machine. Also, Rescue Data Recovery Services is not available in all countries.

So far I have had zero problems with this drive. Formatting it for Mac was super quick and easy. What more can I say about a hard drive besides that fact that it’s doing it’s job correctly? I also love the studded look of it, and the blue light is really helpful in making sure it’s ejected/in use or not.

I’ve used several others of these drives, so this review is only about this specific purchase, but the drive acted as if it had been damaged. I reformatted it exFat since it was for media delivery to a client. It formatted, was still slow, but worked so I sent it off since I didn’t have time to wait to get a replacement. I will probably not get one of these again.

My husband has wanted extra storage in the xbox one so we decided to try this out and see how it worked. I am happy to say it is perfect for what we need and super simple set up. First off it was ready to go out of the box. We plugged it into the xbox where it prompted us to format it. Two clicks and it was formatted. We set it to download all games to it and it was ready. Downloading a new game had no issues either. The whole thing took just a minute or two to be ready to go. We now have plenty of extra space for downloading games and don’t have to keep deleting games for the kids and adults to have room. Over all super simple and just right for us. I am very pleased. There is no lag playing either. I also like how small it is. It sits on top of the console just right

Although I’ve had the drive only for a week or so, it has nearly 2TB of data files and have no negative issues to report. it is performing as advertised except that it idles when not in use and takes a bit of time before it is ready to read or write files. Annoying but not fatal; similar to Toshiba’s and Western Digital’s USB HDD. Seagate’s Backup Plus 5TB drive that I also own is a much better performer in that it doesn’t idle when not in use and, thus far, hasn’t failed in the six months I’ve used it.

This is the second unit of this model that I’ve bought. I use them for weekly backups. I bought the first one about a year ago, and it works fine. The read/write speed is decent, similar to other USB 3.0 external drives I’ve used.
