Built with a compact form factor and ready for on-the-go usage, the 5TB Expansion Portable USB 3.0 External Hard Drive from Seagate is preformatted exFAT, meaning it is compatible with Windows and Mac right out of the box. This hard drive provides a storage capacity of up to 5TB and connects to your host system using its micro-USB 3.0 interface, which also provides bus power using an included USB 3.0 cable, meaning that no external power is required. Copy and saving data is easy – simply drag and drop. Also included is Seagate’s Rescue Data Recovery Services.
Please note that reformatting may be required for use with Apple’s Time Machine. Also, Rescue Data Recovery Services is not available in all countries.

I purchased this drive to travel with me for work. I needed something that would have the capacity for large video files and images. Seagate and Western Digital are my go-to’s for external hard drives, but the Seagate was a much better pricepoint and larger capacity than the WD equivalent. Both great products! Just needed a lot of storage in a small drive. With its exFAT file system, it travels seamlessly between my PC and my Mac.

This Seagate failed less than 3 months from purchase date. I used to only buy Seagate – they used to be extremely reliable. Sadly it seems in the past few years they’ve become less and less reliable. I had a couple of Seagate drives fail in the past few years. Took another chance hoping it was a fluke but it seems they’re just not that reliable anymore. After this one bit the dust I think I’ll try a different company.

I purchased this external hard drive to back up my computer and store my thousands of images, freeing up some space. I plugged it in and it did it’s thing, loading up the software to communicate with my computer. No errors involved and my backup went smooth. The transferring of my images went way faster than I expected, and I’m happy having a lot more room left on the device for future use.

This is such a basic piece of equipment I’m not sure what to say. It is easy to connect (any USB drive is), & access speed, both up & down, is fast. I haven’t had it long enough to know how durable it is but my past experience with Seagate drives has been good.

Great drive so far and I’ve always used Seagate drives for photography. Not sure when a 3.63TB drive became classified as a 4TB drive though. The actual capacity right out of the box with nothing on it is 3.63TB, so just know that you’re getting shorted almost a half a TB. That’s a little dissapointing when capacity is my primary reason for upgrading to a new drive. Not B&H’s fault, but it would be nice to see that info under the specs.

I’m using it as a media storage drive for my xbox one x. Its plenty fast. Transfered nearly half a TB in 20 minutes. Its plastic, so its feels ok, but I’m not planning on moving it much so it is perfectly fine.
