Add space, consolidate files to a single location, or free up space on your system’s internal drive with the 12TB Expansion Desktop USB 3.0 External Hard Drive from Seagate, which is preformatted exFAT, meaning it is compatible with Windows and Mac right out of the box. This hard drive provides a storage capacity of up to 12TB and connects to your host system using its micro-USB 3.0 interface. Copy and saving data is easy – simply drag and drop. Included is an 18″ USB 3.0 cable, an 18W power adapter, Seagate’s Rescue Data Recovery Services, and Toolkit backup software.
Please note that reformatting may be required for use with Apple’s Time Machine. Also, Rescue Data Recovery Services is not available in all countries.

I use this drive mainly as storage for backups. I also use it for general storage (photos, videos, etc). It is fast and easy to use. I’ve had it about one month and it has been flawless during that time. Time will tell as to its reliability. However, as of now, I can highly recommend this drive.

Fast and quiet drive. I use it as a back up drive only. I don’t work off the drive. Data transfer speeds are great. As a part of my multiple backup workflow for storing photos it does its job. I replaced one of my Western Digital drives with this one because that drive was all kinds of slow and noisy. I’m very glad I did and will probably switch to only using Seagate drives from now on.

This is my third Seagate 8Tb External in three years and I have, to date, not had any issues with these drives. This is not a 7200 rpm drive but it does allow you to hoard your backup copies of all those photos and videos that you are creating. Worth the purchase.

Overall Seagate is a great product, data read and write speed is fast, quality material such as the hard drive housing is dourable, needs a little more air circulation. Well my WD Book External drive glitched on my the other day. It was one of my back up external drives. I let my fingers do the shopping and B&H had what I was looking for. Right price, 8TB is good for me. Just got this today. Hooked it up, formatted for my mac and it is sitting pretty on my home desk. It is not noisy, and like my other external drives, I will only power it up when using it. It is not a big deal for me to eject the unit and pull the power plug. For those who had a rough time reformatting this for a mac, go to you tube and find Javier Mercedes, How to format an External Hard Drive for Mac. He explains in detail what to do.
