Add space, consolidate files to a single location, or free up space on your system’s internal drive with the 12TB Expansion Desktop USB 3.0 External Hard Drive from Seagate, which is preformatted exFAT, meaning it is compatible with Windows and Mac right out of the box. This hard drive provides a storage capacity of up to 12TB and connects to your host system using its micro-USB 3.0 interface. Copy and saving data is easy – simply drag and drop. Included is an 18″ USB 3.0 cable, an 18W power adapter, Seagate’s Rescue Data Recovery Services, and Toolkit backup software.
Please note that reformatting may be required for use with Apple’s Time Machine. Also, Rescue Data Recovery Services is not available in all countries.

Needed more space as videos and other programs filled up hard drive on my PC. This provided so much more room that I was able to free up memory on my computer and it also is running better now. It transfer files relatively fast.

These are great value – 8Tb for less than what I’ve been paying for 5Tb. Delivery was quick and I was kept notified at each stage. I’ll be buying from here again.

I do video production work, currently completing a documentary on a haunted attraction (using footage from the past 20 years). Footage runs from VHS-C, DVcam, 1080p HD to 4K. I needed to store backup. Price was very good with B & H, plus quick delivery. So far, everything is as it should be. Reason I always buy from B & H.

I’ve only had my drive for a few weeks however as soon as I got it I ran all of the usual tests like S.M.A.R.T. and short/long read/write tests and it passed them all. I wrote about 5TB of backups to the drive over the first couple days and had 0 issues with it at all. Drive isn’t loud and when writing to it at batches of about 250-500GB at a time it barely heated up. Assuming it lasts this will likely be the hard drive I keep buying as/if I end up needing more space!

I wish SSDs were cheap enough to make old fashioned HHDs disappear. This drive was cheap and slow, but will work as the backup location it was immediately demoted to. It’s fine for what it is.

Not a bad drive for the price. Mine lasted about 4 years before it crapped out. I didn’t lose anything because it held redundant files, being a backup drive and all. I bought it primarily because it was on clearance at a local store. Not recommended for constant hard use, it’s meant to dump files on it, then updated periodically with backups. But recommended for the value, a tool to keep multiple backups. You never know when a drive will fail. But I also still have have a few 10-15 year old hard drives that still work surprisingly. It’s amazing how much storage space you can get for the price these days, it’s generally a bargain, though HDD’s lack the speed of pricier SSD’s.

It is great to have a large external back-up for my images. The unit is a little noisy at times. It does serve it purpose and that’s what is important.

These two Seagate 8TB drives are the third set I have purchased to back up my photographic library. The others have been retired, since they are almost full. Over many years I have relied on Seagate drives and prefer them over all other. Very dependable. Len Holland

The drive constantly disconnects and usually fails to reconnect. The drive’s internal USB circuit keeps crashing, pulling down the USB bus on my PC and disconnecting not only the drive but my mouse and keyboard as well. I replaced this drive with a Toshiba and my problems went away. I’ll never buy another Seagate drive … it’s not worth risking my photos and other data.

Just bought it, as it was on sale recently. So far, it does what it’s supposed to do, and stays pretty quiet. I can hear a slight whoosh once in a while, enough to know it’s there, but the sound isn’t loud or noisy, more like a very quiet, small fan. Reliability is TBD, that will take 6-12 months. Hooking it up and installing was a breeze, no issues there. I just leave it on, it’s also on my desktop all the time, so when I need it, I just transfer files there. So far, it’s only been RAW, TIFF and some JPG files, so lots more room left!

I am very happy with this product being used as a backup for my master files. Ordering, price and delivery where great considering our covid world and all the shipping problems. It arrived as quick as an in country package. Well done as always guys and girls.

I use this strictly for Time Machine backups on my iMac and it works seamlessly.

I am using it with a MacBook Pro. It works fine as long as it’s directly connected to the Macbook, otherwise it periodically disconnects itself. Never had that problem with a WD. I won’t be buying Seagate again.

I’m using this Seagate 10TB External Hard Drive as a Plex server and boy can it hold a lot of media! Setup is easy and truly plug and play. This is the sweet spot for cost/terabyte (unless of course you go with a NAS RAID box) and for reliability with a failure rate lower then 4TB to 6TB external drives. Just get it at the sale price and you’re good to go!

We are using it as a Time Machine Drive for a Retina iMac for video work. No Problems!

Good speeds, tested the entire drive, both read and write were as good as any other 7200rpm top tier drive.
