I did not expect to buy this model, but with a great sale price I was able to get more memory than I expected.

Exactly what I needed for backup purposes.

After switching from Canon to the GH5, my file sizes were upped in a big way. After a ton of research, I decided to not spend almost double the price for G-tech drives or LaCie. I know both of those are really reliable drives, but Ive never had any issues with any Seagate drives Ive owned. The first 8tb I bought has been plugged into my PC since Ive had it… that means a TON of run time. On Black Friday 2018, I was on a mission for 2 more 8tb drives (not necessarily this exact drive, but something cost friendly). Long story short(er), my exact drive was marked down by $40-$50… Without any hesitation I bought 2 more 8tb. I plan on using these drives as long as they are in production. Im not sure about their ruggedness, but since these 8tb stay in my gear closet or on my desk, Im not too worried about mishandling them. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. 10/10 Would smash that buy button again.

It is slower and noisier than I expected, but that is not a problem for me because I use it for automated backup and do not usually interact with it.

The drive seems to work okay but it makes such weird noises. Kind of like a clogged drain sort of draining, then a wind up like a small motor when it engages. I am wondering if there is something wrong with this unit or is this what this drive sounds like when it is working or even not working. When it is idle is sounds like a distant car alarm. Not really trusting it at this point. But not sure if it is normal or Abnormal.

It’s a big drive, a tad on the slow side, and a little on the loud side but I can’t complain. It does what I want it to and that is hold a lot of information and take up as little amount of space as it can.

I’ve had this Seagate drive for 2 weeks and so far so good. Pretty much plug and play, easy set up, file/album creation straight forward. Time will tell if my pictures are there when I go to retrieve them. Love the customer service of B&H. You are the best!

The most important thing about hard drives is their reliability. I’ve had this drive for only about a week so I can’t give an accurate assessment regarding that. But so far so good. It looks attractive, it runs quiet, and it transfers data fast.

I use this as a media library in my living room, so it’s only gotten light use over the past 3 months, but I have no issues with it.

The box was half open when it arrived, I got good deal on the 14th drive but it’s many loud noises when plug in, not sure if it has drop damage or not waiting for replacement.

I purchased this drive to add 4TB to my Xbox One which was FULL rather quickly. Nice design & SIMPLE plug & play with only a QUICK format of the drive once you plug it in. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

I took the unit out of the box, plugged it into my USB hub, and my PC computer immediately recognized it. I was also able to transfer about 3TB of images and other data very easily. The reason I have not given this device 5 stars is that I have not had it long enough to be able to address its longevity.

Seagate has done it again. This huge drive will hold most of your extensive music or photo collection, and B&H has a great price on it. A wonderful value.

I haven’t used it for very long but so far so good. Out of the 80 to 90 drives I’ve owned I’ve had fewer Seagate drives fail than any other brand I’ve used. Actually had one that started failing once but Seagate was able to recover my data for free and gave me a new drive. Haven’t been as lucky with Western Digital but I still buy both depending on which is cheapest. Since I have everything backed up I don’t worry about going with the cheapest. Strangely if you do the math a 14TB drive is cheaper per GB than the larger drives. It isn’t a huge difference but it doesn’t seem logical that would be true.

I bought 3 of these for backup for my photos that had filled my 5T external hard drives. The 5T were portable so no AC power. But they were fine. So I bought these WITH AC power, and lots of space and it’s like watching grass grow when I save or retrieve. It’s not my computer. It’s hefty, lots of memory, power, graphics capability. But I can wait for 30 seconds or longer for this 14T hard drive to give me a photo, or save a photo. It’s not just one of them that’s a problem. I back up to 2 of them and they’re equally slow. And they moan, groan while they wake up, while they save. I hate them. I’m going to wipe them and give all 3 away and start over again with something that’s worth having. This is beyond frustrating and tiresome.
