The set up is not necessarily as easy as the manual implies. I had a very hard time with the threader. It simply wouldn’t come down low enough to face the needle. I had to call customer service, wait an hour on hold, but then a wonderful woman helped me resolve the issue. Seems I was being too gentle. Once I got it to go down the first time, I did not have to apply force again. This should be covered in either the FAQs, on the video or in the users manual. Seems I am not the only person to have trouble with the threader.

I recently purchased this machine so I’ve had little time to experience all of its features but so far it’s great. Replacing my old 1970’s sewing machine, which basically had a few stitches, the Singer Quantum Stylist 9960 offers a world of features. I’m really pleased with the bobbin loading and automatic needle threader. The many stitch options, including multiple automatic button hole & embroidery, makes this a real advanced machine. The expanded sewing deck is a nice addition. Overall, I highly recommend this machine; for beginner and advanced sewers, and of course the ease of mind that I’m using a trusted brand thats been around for years.

Great machine! Love the auto thread cover, and also love that it tells you which presser foot is needed for each stitch, right on the LCD screen. Downside, I wish that it was more clear you weren’t supposed to remove the styrofoam from inside the cover. I thought it was packaging and basically have rendered my cover useless. Such a bummer for a brand new machine that was a big investment.
