I bought this drill to complement another Skil drill I had previously purchased and forgot that there are two types of batteries and therefore two types of drills. This one is heavier than the Li ion battery unit. The Li drill came with a carry case with room to spare in fact I can fit both drills and their respective chargers in the one bag.The drill that they asked me to review has worked very well considering the use I have put it to building fence and a deck. The battery life seems to be good but where the premium drill has three indicator lights that tell you how much battery life you have left the 2888 drill has none. It’s still a very goog power tool.

I’m very pleased with my new Skil drill. It has plenty of power for the tasks I perform around the house and yard. Is easy to use and handle as well.

I bought this drill some time ago I came in a case with a spare battery, and charger. but now the batteries won’t hold a charge. I purchased new battery and it won’t fit in the case attached to the drill or in spare battery slot. This drill has been great, but now I have to carry the drill in the case, and the battery in a paper bag. Nice job Skil.

Have had for a few years. Batteries have always been the limit for use. Just burned out lite bulb. For long term storage (?) battery should be totally discharged – a big pain in the neck.

I have owned two of these drills and two batteries for almost 8 years now. One of the drills is starting to give up on me and I can’t wait to get a replacement. I have no idea how many charge cycles I have run them through over the years, I am not a professional construction guy but I use them every single week for at least one full charge cycle. I can drive hundreds of drywall screws or over 100 – 3″ deck screws on a single charge. The two speed gear box is a must for these drills, when doing fine work the adjustable torque is a life saver. Great product that I will buy again and again.

I don’t need a professionals drill for my home projects and needs. I wanted something reliable, meaning with enough torque as well as a battery that would last. This drill does that at a terrific price point.

I got this drill as a fathers day gift. The unit has lots of power, is smooth and still has the original charge from day one!

I bought this set only because I had an older drill driver from Skil and I liked it until the batteries started dying while the driver was in the case. I had to keep one charged all the time and ready for when I needed it. I use them mainly for minor home repairs and keep them at the ready in case we get word a hurricane is headed our way. I use Lexan panels that are held up with wing nuts, so two drivers come in handy when I have a helper. Nothing against Home Depot, but the drivers should last longer, or Skill should continue offering the batteries for a couple years after phasing out.

Was actually purchased more for the batteries than the tool, as already had complete kit that included recip saw, circular saw, jigsaw and drill. Handed down old drill with one fair battery to family member and kept the new one for myself. Should be good for another 5 years!

My wife gave me a set of Skill 18 Volt tools for my birthday. The tools are great. The batteries are almost worthless if they were not so expensive to replace. I am on my third set of batteries and an example of their quality was yesterday cutting a 2×8 stringer for my deck, I got half of a 22 degree cut when the fully charged battery quit. I am replacing my drill this week because it will no longer work. It failed last week while working with 2″ screws and cedar fencing. I am replacing it because I don’t want to throw away the saws all, the skill saw, and the light for one drill.

Great product. Versatile and durable. Instructions not clear on proper battery charging and management. Without 2nd battery, knowing state of battery charge would be very helpful. Ran out of power too often.

Very powerful on high torque setting. Great run time plus fast recharge time and with the 2nd battery, no down time.
