Although my use of this saw is as a home owner, I’m sure it can we’ll meet the needs of professional use. A great tool for a reasonable price.

I bought it to replace a older and smaller one. It owrks great with adequate power to handle regular woodwork. Only downside is that the laser seems weak and hard to read under bright condition.

Good quality, easy setup, reasonable price. What more could you ask for?

Very powerful, probably more than I needed for my home projects, but so far has performed very well. It is a bit heavy to lug around, but that heft associates with stability and power. The laser was aligned out of the box, but a small piece of wood knocked it out; easy to re-align.

A quality machine.

Could not get the blade to square up with the adjustable fence, had to take fence off and file out the adjustment holes to get it aligned. Blade is terrible, will change that asap. Saw is very well built and very sturdy, overall a good purchase.

All power tools should be able to produce such precise work. We used it in May and June to re-side our cottage in Northern Minnesota. We sawed everything from 1-by, 2-byes, 4x4s, trim, and ***** Hardi-planks siding ( fiber cement)*****. It took them all and the work was perfect every time. I am 90 and it even forgave my mistakes.

Very happy with the performance. Very easy to use…already finished a couple projects including a nice porch bench. Great cuts, very good angles. Only surprise was the overall weight of the system…it’s a lot heavier then I thought but that’s just because it’s built to last. Should be a staple item in my garage for many many years to come.

I purchased this saw to replace a 10 year old 8″ DELTA saw that was under-powered and getting long in the tooth. Based on what i have seen thus far, i have no doubt that this Skill saw will last just as long, if not longer!FEATURESSkill has thought of literally EVERYTHING. There are so many little additions that truly make this saw stand out of the crowd. From the dual-handed operational trigger, to the additional side rails, to the crown molding grooves, this saw has all of the bells and whistles one could ever wish for. The manual is extremely detailed and goes through the process of adjusting each and every rail, stop, and fence to ensure they are at a perfect 90 degrees. The saw comes with an extension, an adjustable stop, and a rotating clamp, in addition to the installed 12″ blade, which allows use right out of the box. I don’t plan on using the quick mount any time soon, but i’m glad that it’s included giving me the option in the future.Another well implemented feature is the carry handle. When in the “stow” position, the saw can be carried by the handle allowing for easy one-handed transport. It is perfectly balanced and sturdy enough where i don’t worry about the drill dropping or opening.OPERATION & USEAs far as the cutting goes, there is only one word for this saw: amazing. It is precise and the cuts are truly to die for. The Saw speed is perfect, giving clean cuts that leave the edge of the wood smooth as silk. There is no blade wobble. The saw is not nearly as loud as my last saw, and this is a welcome change. Once you release the trigger, there is a stop mechanism that engages to stop the saw a few seconds after release. Long gone are the days of waiting for the saw to “spin down.” It is truly a pleasure to use. Most applications will merit the use of the saw outdoors in daylight. The laser, in this standard environment, is mostly invisible. I had a hard time telling if the laser was on at all. It’s just barely usable, as long as you shield the cutting path from the sun. But barring indoor use, this laser could use a serious brightness boost. However, when the laser was visible, the cuts were right on the money. One thing that i did find not only easy to use but incredibly useful was the vertical clamp. In conjunction with the extension rails, this combo of features allowed true one handed use of the saw. This is not allows for extremely accurate cuts, but saves time and frees your hand for other uses.SUMMARYIn summary, this drill really has it all. It cuts through wood like butter. There is plenty of attention to detail to all of the little (yet important) details, making this saw an all around all-star. This goes to show you really can’t go wrong with the Skill brand. Highly recommend.

This has been a terrific purchase. It holds the settings absolutely, never wavering. Skill has done a wonderful job in manufacturing this saw. The machining is spot on, very nice. bed is nice an flat. Thick aluminum bed, fence and frame. It speaks long lasting durability. It’s light enough to carry for this 64 year old man- if not too far- and heavy enough that it’s completely stable. I’ve even had comments as to how nice it looks. Professionally thinking that can only be a plus. The laser is a nice touch but don’t expect to see it working in the sunshine outdoors. After the cut the blade doesn’t take an annoying amount of time to stop spinning. Nice there is a lever to fasten and release the fence to slide it back and forth as needed for a miter. The 12 inch carbide tipped blade has been giving very good quality cuts for a long long time now. I’m totally pleased with this tool.

saw worked great on a deck remodel project. surprise was for the skil miter saw stand for about $100. a $100 bucks doesn’t buy much these days, but this is a really nice heavy, folding, stand with many easy adjustments for lengths longer than the ones provided with saw for stop or glide over level pieces. allowed 2×2 spindles to be cut all the same lengths from left side of saw and from right side cut a 45 degree off one end without changing only blade angle for entire rail section.

The laser isn’t very accurate and reflects off the sides to make it look like there are three lines. It also smells like burning plastic whenever I run it. The button you push to hold the blade in place in order to remove it doesn’t work.
