I bought this so that my son, a professional carpenter, could help me with a project at my house. He helped me select it from the HD web page. We were both pleased with the quality and price. Some time was required to make some minor adjustments to square the blade, but no major issues.

The saw seems very powerful, so powerful that when it starts, it jerks the wood that I am trying to cut, making me have to re-position the wood just to verify the cut. It is VERY noisy!

Saw arrived faster than I thought it would. Took it out of the box, plugged it in and it made fast, easy, and square cuts right out of the box. As good or better than those expensive saws. Very well pleased.

I’m not terribly experienced with miter saws, so I don’t have a lot to compare this to. It is easy to set up and to use, and gives a nice, clean cut. The sawdust catcher does catch most of the saw dust. Changing the blade is reasonably simple, and it has a lot of safety features. When cutting straight lines, the laser works perfectly and every cut came out exact. When cutting 45 degree angled cuts, they consistently came out about 1/4 in shorter than where the line showed. I learned to just allow for this and cut to the side of my line instead of right on it, but that’s the reason I’m giving it four stars instead of five. Feels like a sturdy tool that I expect to use for many years.

I love it. This saw gets the job done. Great purchase and Skil Saw as a brand is a beast.

Overall very impressed with the quality and features of this saw for the price. It comes with one blade already on it, the only pieces you have to put on are the arms (the pieces that hold your board up), which are interchangeable and can be put on whichever side works best for you. This saw can rotate 50 degrees left and right, as well as to the side 45 degrees, allowing you to make a compound miter (two angles at the same time). I really like that the handle is designed for both left and right handed people. The laser was set very accurately out of the box, and is a great extra feature. The stop on the arm is very easy to set and stays put, you can cut up to 18.5″ using the stop, which is enough to cut the 14.5″ pieces for between wall studs. The built-in ruler is also very accurate (see picture), and is set to the side of the blade, not the center so you end up with an accurate length if you aren’t marking every piece beforehand. There is a built-in clamp, you will have to remove it if you want to compound miter because the saw will hit it, but we don’t do that very often so would rarely need to remove the clamp. We’ve only had the unit for a few weeks and have cut both thin plywood pieces and 2×4’s and it works very smoothly so far. It seems to be very well built, and should last a long time if treated well.
