The single-beam laser guides cuts more accurately while the integrated dust blower keeps the line of cut sawdust free. The 51° bevel, with positive stop at 45°, gives a variety of cut options, while blades changes are easier with spindle lock and on-tool wrench. The 5280 includes a 24 tooth blade and a carrying bag.

The location of the trigger and safety, and the shape and angle of the grips make this saw easy and safe (within the parameters of its intended use) to use, but the best feature (for me) is the laser: it helps make cutting a straight line much more efficient than using the eyeball method.

The laser guide is very helpful. The hardware quality is optimal and the saw is well made. The accuracy is great for carpentry projects, and sufficient enough for other woodworks that require more precision. Height and bevel adjustments are really easy and accessible. The only thing that I would like to add to this product is a vacuum adapter or a dust bag adapter.

I put a 60 tooth blade on it and I use it to cut cabinet quality plywood when making cabinets. It cuts fast & smooth, and the laser is a huge advantage. I typically buy high end tools like Porter Cable or Dewalt and was a little apprehensive about buying a Skil Saw. I am very impressed. I will not rule out giving Skil a look for future tool purchases. Does Skil intend to make a more high end line?

I bought this about a month ago to build out some garden beds. I’ve never used this type of power tool, but it was easy to use and feels really powerful. I went with the skil saw because of the affordability, great reviews and the fact that it was corded. A lot of other companies are using batteries and I’m pretty old school. How far away from a plug am I going to be using this from a wall? Not very far. I can’t wait to try my hand at building other things. Excellent buy!

Adequate for the amateur. If you’re a professional, skip it and buy something more robust. First one I purchased had a manufacturer defect. The front edge of the shoe looked like the front end of a snow sled, curled up. After taking it back to the store got one with a quality, straight shoe. Does the job though feels cheaply made. Probably will win best cheap circular saw.

So far I am very satisfied with the saw. It is powerful enough to handle any job but light enough to be easily maneuvered. I haven’t used the laser much but it’s nice to know it’s there if I need it. I like the trigger safety switch. If the saw included a blade break, I would have given 5 stars. Included blade cuts well.
