2nd week owning this belt sander. in the competition of course black and decker is an absolute NO many bad expreinces with that name. however. this sander has some backdraws. 1 you will need an air compressor too blow the excess saw dust out. why? it tends too clog then the saw dust is all over the floor please note this is a must for this sander, i blow it out every time the canister is full. 2nd is. the adjustment tab has a tendency too ride on the sand paper this is an easy fix, just pop the bottom open and pull the sharp tabs away from where there paper rides. other than that it does the job very well.

I only sanded a square foot area of my floor and this thing blew me away. Comes with a roll of sandpaper. Amazing feel, it is nice and hefty. Heavy actually. Doesn’t feel flimsy and does an amazing job sanding. I was so Impressed it’s 2:44am and I needed to write this review lol. First time home owner/Sander owner. I am getting my tools to build a fence and other misc things and this a great addition to my Skil 20 Combo Kit. It came with a reciprocating saw, circular saw, a nice powerful LED light, a drill, two 2 Amp hour batteries AND a charger. This was a GREAT addition to that. Skil has been stepping it’s game up with the new branding aimed at DIYers and home owners, I am in love with all of the products from them and this is no exception to the quality I have got from the other Skil products I have. Oh and no, I wasn’t paid for this lol.

I bought the belt sander about 5 months ago. Its true the small filter canister does fill up with debris, but its a no brainer to empty it periodically. This is why the unit overheats if the motor cannot exhaust it will get hot. Other than the filter is a god send I do have to wear a mask when using it.This is not a unit a contractor would use its meant for doing light duty wood work for the hobbyist. It has more than enough power from the 6amp motor. Best $50 I ever spent.

Purchased this to take some door and window casings down to bare wood (1920’s home). Didn’t want to buy something more expensive, as everything seemed to have a mix of negative reviews and I don’t anticipate a high volume of belt sanding to come my way. I can’t speak for longevity, as I only have about 20 hours logged with this. What I can say is that it does the job well. The dust collection piece falls off regularly. The belt tracks well. I did two belt swaps during the project, very easy. The right side of the tool can get up to edges, but the left side is limited – so I had to hold it ‘backwards’ at times during the job. I’m completely satisfied with this for my purposes and will be pleasantly surprised if it holds up over time.
