Every busy DIY needs a backup battery for his or her tools when working on your house or helping out a neighbor. Of course, the charger that I have does a very respectable job getting you going again, a spare can really save some time. I only had one battery, so it was time for a backup. The 20V Skill battery keeps my Skil circular saw and grinder going now for as long as necessary. And while the backup is in use, the depleted one is on the charger. And the 5Ah battery has enough juice to get the jobs done, and the Fuel Gauge lets you know when to switch out.

LONG RUNTIME; EXCELLENT POWER — The Skil PWRCORE 20-Volt Lithium-ion 5.0 Ah Battery with Fuel Gauge is a useful battery to have on hand. Since most (all?) initially-purchased PWRCORE 20 tools come with a battery, this battery is likely a backup or a replacement for the 2.0Ah battery when you need more power or run time. Or it may be needed for a tool-only purchase. Or since power tools typically last longer than batteries, this battery may be needed as a replacement. The battery charged in about 50 minutes with the PWRJump Charger. The batteries run time should be sufficient for most tasks performed with a Skil PWRCORE 20 tool during the day. If not, since this is likely a second battery, there should be sufficient run time with two batteries for all applications. Since every make of lithium ion battery for DIY tools seems to have a fuel gauge, that is not a distinguishing feature of this battery. Runtime, power, and cost are its main advantages.

You need to get the 5 amp, good for pretty much all day, no issue with power. Built a cabinet and a front porch within the first month of having it. One of the Best Buy’s I’ve had.

The Skik Pwrcore 20 volt 5 ah arrived very quickly and together with the Pwrcore Drill/Driver drill and battery, that I also ordered. They were packaged very well. I like the 5 amp hour capacity to get more drill time. I use it with the drill when the smaller amp hour battery is charging.Skil Pwrcore is amazing for quality and can get all jobs done. I would recommend this new Skil product for its performance and economical price.I would compare the performance with most other 18 volt power tools.

Large battery not super heavy my guess 2 lbs if that. Honestly doesn’t feel that bad. But what’s more important is power and runtime. This battery delivers. I would like to try the 4 ah battery to compare this one to!

This Skil brand “PWRCORE 20” 5 Ah Lithium battery is a great extra battery to have with my Skil brand power tools because no one wants to run out of power in the middle of a project. It is always good to have a spare battery because projects always seem to take longer than you planned. This battery has a useful status bar with LED lights showing its state of charge (see picture), and it releases easily thanks to the oversized tab on the end you just press with your thumb for release from your tool or from the charger (see picture). In addition to powering the tool, it also powers the built-in LED light on the tool (see picture). I highly recommend this 5 Ah battery for all of your Skil power tools!

This is the beast of the line. I have the 2ah and 4ah batteries as well, but I like this one because I never worry about running out of juice. The 2ah battery is about half the weight, so if you are concerned with weight and only have to do short run projects then it might serve you better. I don’t mind the weight and the balance is fine with both batteries across a variety of Skill tools so I am happy to have the power and longevity of the big boy.

Glad to have another 5.0 AH (Amp Hour) lithium ion battery for my Skil brand tools. Its works with any and all Skil PWRCORE 20 volt tools. So far I have 3 Skil tools and really like the quality and ease of operation of them and this large capacity 5AH battery will keep em going longer than lower AH batteries. Of course how long depends on what tool and how much strain the use puts on the battery. An example would be, lets say with the circular saw, cutting thin fence pickets does not put much strain on the tool and it demands less power from the battery. No if you start cutting 2×4, 2×6 etc. you are gonna have more strain on the tool and a higher power demand. This battery is made from the same high quality material for its exterior as the tools themselves are made from, tough stuff.Inside is the lithium ion cells that make up the battery and lithium ion batteries keep going at full throttle until depleted instead of getting weaker as they are used.It also has a built in fuel gauge that with a press of the membrane on the back of the battery will display the remaining power, indicated in quarters of the batteries capacity. This is battery only no tool or charger included, but when you buy a tool a charger and battery come in a set with the tool, unless you purchase a bare tool.

This battery fits the Skil PWRCORE 20 Volt series of tools and chargers. I like the green LED battery meter on the front. This is activated by pressing the button on the battery. This is not a light weight battery! It weighs in at over 1-1/2 pounds on the scale that I have. It measures 4-3/4 inches long by 3 inches wide by 2-5/8 inches tall with the tape measure that I have. It is a heavy duty battery.
